Colt King Cobra chrony data

Post by Morne »

Finally got a chance to wring out the new Colt King Cobra.

***CHRONY DATA***

72 F, 29.83" Hg, 75%RH

.357 Magnum
Colt King Cobra with 3" barrel

16.0-gr Lil' Gun powder 158-gr X-Treme CPSWC CCI-500SPP @1.597" COAL - AVERAGE = 1139 fps - ES = 55
5.0-gr IMR PB powder 130-gr Coated RNFP WSP(m) @1.590" COAL - AVERAGE = 862 fps - ES = 72.9
8.2-gr W231 powder 125-gr X-Treme CPHP CCI-500SPP @1.580" COAL - AVERAGE = 1115 fps - ES = 81
16.5-gr Ramshot Enforcer powder 125-gr X-Treme CPHP WSP(m) @1.585" COAL - AVERAGE = 1221 fps - ES = 169
10.5-gr HS-6 powder 125-gr X-Treme CPHP WSP(m) @1.575" COAL - AVERAGE = 1110 fps - ES = 82

Some factory ammo data:

Remington 158-gr SJHP AVERAGE = 1233 fps - ES = 27
Sellier & Bellot 158-gr FMJ AVERAGE = 1104 fps - ES = 40
Speer Gold Dot 158-gr AVERAGE = 1143 fps - ES = 55
Buffalo Bore 140-gr JHP Short-Barrel AVERAGE = 1275 fps - ES = 51
Speer Gold Dot 135-gr Short Barrel AVERAGE = 1185 fps - ES = 57

That Buffalo Bore short barrel formula really gets moving out of the 3" barrel.

The Remington 158 looks like it wins the muzzle energy contest :-).
