Open Carry: Doing it right

Open Carry is carrying a firearm unconcealed in Ohio. OC does not require a concealed handgun license, but the practice requires intimate knowledge of the law since there are places and situations where OC is prohibited but carrying concealed would be permitted. OC is also likely to attract attention. This forum is for discussion of OC, not for debating the pro's and con's or coordinating any type of protest events.

Personally, I try to be extra nice while open carrying. I try to acknowledge the people I come in contact with. Whether it be "good morning", "hello", "nice day", etc., I try to appear non-threatening . The reason is simple. I figure if I can convince one undecided person that normal people, sometimes, do carry guns, I've made the world slightly better.

I have long been a believer that a handgun on one's hip is not nearly as obvious as a chip on one's shoulder.

Open carry is a First Amendment exercise.
