Was at the YMCA and noticed their sign had a no guns allowed "on property". Does this include the parking lot? As a CHL holder am I allowed to leave my gun in my car as I would at a school zone, or does this sign prohibit anywhere on the property/premesis? This Y has a daycare attached to it, which changes the nature of the violation from trespassing to aggravated trespassing, but is that only for guns carried into the building?
How do parking lots in general work - BW3 for example shares a parking lot with the strip mall it's located in, or a hospital that owns its own land?

Re: Gunbuster sign - "property"
If the sign is on the building, it likely only applies to the building. However, Ohio recently enacted a parking lot law that allows persons with a CHL to legally store firearms and ammunition in their vehicles if they meet certain conditions:
So, even if the entire property is posted "no guns", locking the gun in the trunk or a locking container within the vehicle (like a locking glove box, locking center console, or gun safe, etc.) is legal, as long as your vehicle is parked where it is allowed to be.(1) Each firearm and all of the ammunition remains inside the person's privately owned motor vehicle while the person is physically present inside the motor vehicle, or each firearm and all of the ammunition is locked within the trunk, glove box, or other enclosed compartment or container within or on the person's privately owned motor vehicle;
(2) The vehicle is in a location where it is otherwise permitted to be.

Re:
Would not this qualify the area as a school zone. As such, the Good Citizen (Ohio CHL holder) simply secures the handgun ''somewhere'' within the locked & secured vehicle? I admit not remembering the exact language on daycares.This Y has a daycare attached to it, which changes the nature of the violation from trespassing to aggravated trespassing, but is that only for guns carried into the building?
Acquisitions thus far:
-Slingshot
-Butter knife
-Soda straw and peas
-Sharpened pencil
-Newspaper roll
--water balloon (*diversionary*)
Yeah, I'm that good

No. Daycares are completely separate from schools in Ohio. Ohio school zones include grades K-12 only.WhyNot wrote:Re:Would not this qualify the area as a school zone.This Y has a daycare attached to it, which changes the nature of the violation from trespassing to aggravated trespassing, but is that only for guns carried into the building?
