library no gun signs gone.

Post by postaltulong »

On 3 12 16 visited my local branch library and all the no gun signs were gone. Did some law change that I missed?

You're still in Ohio, right? Nope. Maybe they got new windows or doors. Or the maintenance crew got carried away with spring cleaning.

Or the library has been sold to a private company. (That's a joke, they lose too much money.)
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Nope.

It's still a government building and that makes it off-limits to armed CHL-holders.

Government bldgs do not need to be posted...IT is our responsibility to know where we can carry.

Actually, they are required to be posted. ORC 2923.1212 states that government buildings must post signage.

But - I do agree. It is OUR responsibility to make sure we know what is off limits as per the law.

Right. Sign or no sign, it is on us - if they just replaced their door and haven't put the gunbuster back up yet, we are still breaking the law if we enter while carrying concealed.

Libraries always strike me as being like a crabby spinster aunt; when concealed carry was first legalized..actually, while it was pending...they couldn't wait to post signs on all the doors, and even the walls inside. "YOU CAN'T COME IN HERE WITH THAT!!" was the tone.

They went equally ape when the smoking ban passed, even though that activity had long ago already been forbidden. New, much bigger signs.
