Post by AzRanger »

Okay serious question here, I just renewed my membership to OFCC, but my question is since we now have the CC Law what exactly is this organization going to do? :?:

Personally I'd like to see the prohibition against carry in "government" buildings removed, or seriously curtailed. As some of you know I go to northern Kentucky a lot, and that state's legislature has done a pretty good job. Am I worried about getting physically attacked in a library or city hall? No, not much, but the walk to and from such places still concerns me.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Removal of government facilities from the statutory no-carry list, removal of churches from the statutory no-carry list, decriminalization of carrying past a no-guns sign on businesses and other private property are just a few things on the list we need to address. Add to that removal of the restrictions on unlicensed carry so that anyone legally able to own a gun can carry it concealed as well as strengthening preemption, and it's clear we've still got a fair amount of work that needs to be done.

I'm for government buildings, or better yet- even just federal property.

As a vet- it's state law that i can carry a concealed weapon to protect myself as i travel to and from my VA appointments.

But, i cannot enter the property with it, and store it in my personal vehicle as i do/can anywhere else in the state.

I'm not even asking for the basket of worms in opening the hospital or clinic to carry. I just wanna be able to get there!

Unfortunately, that's not something we can fix with a change to Ohio law, that's going to need a Federal change.

We now have "permitless carry" in Ohio. We sure as hell do not have Constitutional Carry.
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

Yeah, there is still a lot do be done. This will be an ongoing fight with mass media and the anti-gunners for a long time to come.

Correct, but as with many terms, the laymen only know "constitutional carry" and don't understand the difference between it and unlicensed carry.

So you're saying "constitutional carry" would be the freedom to carry anywhere you want? That's fine with me but there's still is a provision for private businesses to restrict firearms from their premises. While I don't agree with that it is THEIR right to do that.

My original question was what's OFCC plans, now that we don't need a permit!

Not exactly, true constitutional carry would remove any law that restricts carry. What we have is a law *added* to the existing law that said you are exempt from the laws prohibiting concealed carry if you meet certain criteria.

As to your original question, I haven't seen any posts from the OFCC Board of Directors in a while, and they are really the only ones that can answer that question.

Yea, I kinda figured the board would let us all know what exactly they're going to do now. Did we just waste our membership money??

The law still allows anyone to restrict firearms from their place of business regardless of what you call it!

Happy New Year, keep carrying !!! 8)

While I'm wishing in one hand and uh, you-know-whatting in the other to see which fills up first: We can carry in bars etc. as long as we're not drinking, but casinos are overseen by a state regulatory agency which prohibits carry there. Again, I'm sure it's reasonably safe inside those places, but can tell you first hand that getting to and from your car is still a problem. The one in downtown Cincinnati has an ongoing problem with their parking garage. So, I don't go there, and maybe that's a good thing anyway.

I did a search of "ohio casino parking lot robbery" and got a whole long list of them. (and only a few of them were repeats of the same story) One of the parking lot robberies was an employee of the casino! This isn't even counting the stories of people who were robbed as they left the casino lot and were robbed as they got home, although I suppose it's legal to leave it secured in your car while you're in the casino, right?

Someone once told me that regarding the Dayton casino at least that if you request it security will walk you to your car.

Everyone playing in a casino gets robbed. By the house (and the state as well).
