I remember having the cops called on me because someone saw my gun in my shoulder holster while I was in the car. Had my suit jacket pulled back under the seatbelt so the pistole showed.

I remember - and, for that matter, I still do it so I don't have to dig my sidearm out from under layers of clothing while belted in to a vehicle...

I remember doing it from late 70's to mid 80's. Very occasionally after that.

Makes it spooky fast if you still do it with an appendix holster and the seat belt between you and the grip

Remember "Buckeye Tuck"? Not to brag but I COINED that phrase, friend.

Oops, missed the post from pniemeyer where he gave me credit. Thanks, Paul. But I'll leave the above boast there, so's nobody forgets again.

I was pulled over by a Sheriff Deputy soon after CCW was legal. He did a “felony stop” on me, slowly up the side of my car.....hand on gun. When he saw I was legally carrying he yelled at me for not doing a proper “Buckeye tuck”. So I said do you want me to put it in the glove box, he said “yes”, so I pulled it off and put it in the glovebox. He was {inappropriate language}, got in his car and drove off.....before I was safely on my way as they are supposed to do.

The next day I called his office to discuss the stop...he just happened to be there. I was talking to a Sgt. when the deputy walked in and he just laughed off the stop. The reason I was pulled over in the manner I was, was because of a glitch in the system that identified you as having a CCW was showing up the same way a wanted person was...some kind of red flag.

Kind of unnerving to see a cop with his hand on his gun coming up to you.

I recall many of you folks talking about it and referring to it but it was before I had found this forum.

However, the completely ridiculous law/laws specifically relating to this were precisely the reason I did not get my Ohio CHL until 2008. Before that time (and up until about 6 years ago) I spent the bulk of my vehicle time on a motorcycle and the law was completely absurd for anyone on a motorcycle so I didn’t carry a gun.
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

I am convinced that was exactly the reason for most of our concealed carry laws. Still is.

Along the same lines, I was going through some boxes in the attic a few months back and found some of the original OFCC petitions that we were circulating at gun shows circa 1999/2000. They were blanks so no loss :)

I remember. The girl I was dating at the time, and am now married to, had just gotten back into the country after being gone for 11 weeks. While she was in Ireland I had gotten my CHL and I told her about it so it didn't seem like a big deal. The first time we get together and I open the car door for her, close it for her and then walk around to get in the driver's seat I stopped and did the tuck. Her eyes got big and wide and instead of sitting nice and close to me she sat closer to the door. When I asked her what was wrong she said she didn't know as she had no real exposure to firearms. Long story short I ended up taking her dad, her mom, and her to the range. My father in law now shoots in cowboy matches nearly every weekend (pre covid at least he did) and my wife has her own CHL. About the positive thing I know of to come out of the buckeye tuck.
