Chl over background checks?

Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I was under the impression that having a chl. Or one issued after a certain date, negated the need for the full background check during a firearm purchase. I renewed my chl THIS year.
I have since purchased two new firearms.
The first. Rural king told me it was company policy that they still do background checks regardless of chl. That was fine. I waited. Then put on delay for 24hours before I could pick up my firearm. But I did. Successfully. And put no further thought into it. Although it was a terrible hassle.
I checked out another store today. And almost purchased. But again was told that their policy is background checks regardless of chl. When I asked some further questions, he told me the background checks were taking quite a bit of time since corona has everyone panicked and buying.

So is there anywhere that actually doesn’t die background checks for chl holders like allowed by law.
Or am I gonna have to wait another 3 hours at a counter for the check again?

Yeah, in this lawsuit crazed day and age... a prudent business is going to default to running the NICS check even if technically they don't have to.

Rural king and fin feather fur still run the background check regardless of chl issued after 3/28/15.

Sportsman Den in Shelby will accept the chl but you still need to fill out the 4473.

I have bought firearms at all three places and this has been my experience

The 4473 is required regardless of how they handle the background check.

I purchased a new Sig the other day, 4473 only, no NICS

I've gotten several lowers from AIM Surplus and some whisper pickles from Vandalia Range and Armory. At both places, just filled out 4473 and walked out with my goodies. No NICS check.

Oh and Miami Valley Armory, too.

Likewise Rivertown Guns (Ripley) just fill out the 4473 and they make a copy of your CHL and DL and you are good to go.

I bought two guns since I renewed 2 years ago neither FFL ran a check. Its up to the business if they want to run it or not!

I used my CHL at 2A Supply LLC ,in Columbus Grove when I bought my most recent firearm.

LGS here takes CHL instead of NICS. A store that is big enough like Vances or Rural king does not care really what the customer thinks. And right now anything that goes bang is sold out anyway. IF things ever normalize though you can shop with your feet. It is a lot less messing around to be able to just show CHL.
