This was just linked to in a post in the Democratic Underground Gun Control & RKBA (Group)

The title says it all.

In 1997, researchers John Lott and David Mustard asserted that more guns meant less crime; it was an influential argument that likely contributed to states passing right-to-carry laws. Ever since, there’s been a debate over the effects of this legislation on violent crime.

But with an updated paper by legal scholars John Donohue and Abhay Aneja and economist Kyle Weber, there’s a new consensus: Right-to-carry laws actually increase the rate of violent crime. Ten years after a state passes a right-to-carry law, violent crime—which includes murder, manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault—will be 13 to 15 percent higher than if the state had done nothing.
It the comments of the story is this link:
The flawed and misleading Donohue, Aneja, & Weber Study claiming right-to-carry laws increase violent crime
An unpublished study by John Donohue, Abhay Aneja, and Kyle Weber has received a lot of attention for supposedly finding some evidence that right-to-carry laws increase overall violent crime rates. It has been covered in Newsweek, The Atlantic, Bloomberg, Vice, Snopes, and many newspapers such as Newsday and the Salt Lake City Tribune. As is typical of Donohue’s work, there is no attempt to mention or respond to prior criticisms, and he just repeats the same, seriously biased methods and errors.
EDIT: I just read some more of the comments at the bottom of the Nation article. Some of those people scare the he** out of me. OMG! How far do they want to dive down the rabbit hole?

Back in the '80s, "The Nation" ran a story purporting to "debunk" Stalin's terror famine (the Holodomor) in the Ukraine... an endeavor equivalent to "debunking" the Holocaust.

Consider the source.
