So why did you choose Summit over Lake? Appointment time? Driving distance?

Sounds like two trips to Summit instead of one trip to Lake.

Since Medina was booked up until who knows when, I called Lorain last Monday and set up an appointment for yesterday.

It took about an hour. They said they'd call when it was ready.

I got a call today when I was asleep.

As long as you call ahead, you can pick up your license seven days a week.

Pending pickup next Monday, I give them an A+.

I picked up my license on Monday, very painless process.

A+ for Lorain County.

I am sorry, I do not intend to be dense, but when I renewed my CHL in Warren County, it was available to me in less than 30-seconds and printed on the spot. Is Cuyahoga County technology impaired or not otherwise entitled to the same State funding other counties receive?

Cuyahoga County is so liberal that the Republicans don't even run candidates for county offices. It would be a total waste of campaign funds. The sheriff is appointed by the county executive. The only reason they issue licenses is because state law requires them to and they feel no obligation to provide good service.

It was well worth the 40 minute drive to Lake County to have my renewed license in my hand 16 minutes after I walked in the door.

You may not remember, but in 2004, the Cuyahoga County sheriff (Gerald McFaul, I think) refused to take applications or issue licenses when the law took effect. Said they weren't ready and didn't have resources. It took a written of mandamus, and threat of all out lawsuit, to force his hand.

I don't things are much better with the mindset of that office now.
