Lightweight Long Range Scope

Post by robertstevens »

I have one of the new Cooper 92 Backcountry Light weights in 6.5-284 on the way. This will be my walking around gun but I would still like to be able to shoot out to 800 yards if need be. Being that it weighs only 5.75 pounds I don't want to put a heavy 2 pound scope on it. Any suggestions for a lightweight long range capable scope?

Thanks
Robert Stevens

budget ? won't do any good to recommend a $1500.00 scope if your budget is $500.00

The Leupold ultralight scopes seem popular with the mountain hunters..

3.5-10x 40mm 12.6 ounces ~ $500.00

As you increase the magnification and size of the objective lense the weight is going to shoot up..

Not to put down this forum, but you might have better luck with places like Snipers Hide. You are talking big bucks to get quality lightweight, trim and high magnification scope, so you might want to survey a broad spectrum of dedicated long range users.
