Springfield Trapdoors

Post by Beezer »

Hey all, I have a buddy that is trying to get information on a lot of old rifles an uncle had when he died. They asked him to sell them and I advised he find out more about them before he sells to make sure he is not getting taken over prices. There are several 1884 Springfield Trapdoors but 2 are special in that they are consecutive serial numbers. The rifles are in good shape. He has several Allin Conversions and Officer Fusils. I’m pretty partial to the 1864 Spencer carbines with saddle rings myself. If anyone here has any idea of cost or who to contact that would know more, please feel free to post. We have emails and calls out to Springfield Arms Historical Museum but with COVID they are closed.

I have plenty of photos I can send to someone if they want to post them here. I’m having issues with it

This guy was able to provide a lot of information on a Trapdoor I once owned, including when and to what unit it was issued:

I’ve reached out to them and have only heard back from a 94 yr old in Huston that said he is no longer involved but has cartridges for a .58cal Allin conversion if I want to buy.
