Once again truth is stranger than fiction.

Hmmm, I know I'm aiming correctly. Why are there no holes on the target?

There are no dangerous weapons; there are only dangerous men. - RAH
Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

Re: Example of High Point warranty
With a lot of handgun ctg the highest pressure is achieved before the bullet leaves the case. In contrast for larger powder capacity cases (often referred to as "overbore capacity") such as 7.62 Nato or 300 win mag the peak pressure occurs when the bullet is down the bore a few inches.steves 50de wrote:Well it did not blow up very lucky.
In the first example restraining the bullet in the case will not result in an overpressure event. S&W did a test with one of their TI 38 special revolvers where they screwed in a barrel that had no bore and fired 5 rounds without any damage to the cyl or the frame. I also saw a test where a person made a fixture to hold a 45 acp bullet in the case while firing, to prove that the 1911 is recoil operated and does not use residual chamber pressure to do any "work". If the bullet does not move there is no recoil.
In the second example the bullet moving forward before peak pressure in a way creates a larger cartridge volume, if you restrain the bullet in the case of say a 300 win mag something bad will happen probably .
In a pistol barrel like shown the barrel may bulge from that type of abuse and rupture however.
