I use LAX new ammo and really like it. It's a bit hot compared to other range fodder. I totally agree with avoiding Freedom Munitions.

Thanks for this. I didn't get the email for some reason. I bought another 2k and can confirm that the 5% discount and free shipping works with no coupon code required.
Good luck and stand fast, true Patriots.

Thoughts on LAX remans? This 124-gr reman stuff really is drawing me for some reason...

Well, what was the result of this?
Did Doug get his ammo?
Did he attend the class?
Did he have any problems with the ammo he bought?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

I bought the LAX 124-gr reman stuff. Not yet shot any of it.

Class isn't until April.

Will update.

Probably late here but i assume you are not recovering brass.
I recommend Seller & Bellot as a good warm accurate 9mm base load. CCI Blazer Brass or Speer Lawman good too.
Win White Box 124 NATO or Prvi Partizan also is good.

I find regular Win white box or Remington are a bit weak.

I wouldn't use any reman or reloaded ammo for a class, the cost of the class vs saving a few pennies on ammo isn't a good trade off. If you have to fight equipment or ammo issues it spoils the class.

There i go not reading page 2 before chiming in..
But i wouldn't depend on any new untried ammo for an important purpose.
See Techmike's post of issues with factory reman 9mm.

I will crack open a can and run a hundred or so through my gun prior to the class just to be sure.

Saw that other thread.

Some, maybe even most, of the reman stuff should be avoided. I read a lot of very good reviews about LAX remans.

FFF had some factory new 115-gr FMJ for $10 per box of 50 recently. Picked up 900 rounds during that sale. Already had some other factory stuff laying around, too. Thus, I'm probably not far off from being able to run EITHER factory OR reman at the class.

I have bought and shot a bunch of LAX reman in .357. Zero complaints on its quality for high volume shooting. At 25 yards with handgun, it may not be as accurate as new manufacture though. Feeds great in my Coonan. Pretty much my go to company for getting cheaper ammo.

I wanted to come back to this one -

Went out this weekend with a fellow Forum member to run a whole bunch of different new-manufacture ammo through his re-barrel'ed Glock (Roland setup).

Everything functioned well.

Out of the 16 or so different flavors we tried (some were the same make/brand, differing weights/lengths), Blazer Aluminum 147 gr. produced a distinctly larger group at even just the 18 yard line.

Muzzle flash was also noticeably different to me, as an observer off to the side, for several different loads.

***UPDATE***

Beautiful weather today allowed me to shoot some of the LAX reman 124-gr FMJ stuff I bought. Put a few magazines worth through the Sig P-320C. All ran well.

Took Chrony data on it with a ten (10) round string:

Average = 1024 fps
ES = 40.1

Meteorological data 59 F, 81% RH, 30.02" Hg

When measuring Average velocity and Extreme Spread I usually only do five (5) round strings rather than the ten (10) I did here. Keeping a 40.1 fps ES in a ten (10) round string is reasonably good.

Additionally, I made chrono measurements of my old Armscor practice ammo 124-gr LRN and got:

Average = 1011 fps
ES = 31.1

Thus, the LAX is close enough to the Armscor that it makes no matter. I'd rather shoot the LAX FMJ than some LRN any day.

I'm pleased enough with the LAX to take it to TDI with me. I'll hopefully be able to practice enough with it between now and then.
