What have you bought (firearm related) in the last 48 hrs?

This is where you can talk about all equipment issues; firearms, ammunition, magazines, care & repair, holsters, gun cases, etc.

Picked up this Dan Wesson in .38 Super today. Nicest production 1911 I've seen in a long time.

The 38 Super +P is a nice round, but not so common any longer. I give you kudos for picking it.

It's still the dominant round used in IPSC competition. If the gun forums are to be believed, there are a lot of 38 Super owners & quite a few carry them as an EDC. Just about every big gun maker has at least one in their lineup. I can't be the only one buying them but I'm trying! lol
Actually it's not as uncommon as you might think. There are quite a few big name ammo mfgs that make both fmj & defensive hollow points for it. If your a reloader, there are a plethrora of bullet choices from 90g 9mm to 158g .357. I like the 124g 9mm's at 1350 fps.
I think a lot of folks just haven't heard of it. Or pass on it since it's generally chambered in a 1911. It's my favorite pistol round. (as you can tell by my long winded rebuttal).

I carried a 357Sig for 20 years, same concept but just a bit better. So, I get it.

Bigger than Dirty Harry's 44 Magnum. Although mine is not the 475 Wildey magnum, it should be cheaper/easier to reload for, since it will use standard 230 grain .452 bullets. 230 grains at 1600 fps is nothing to sneeze at.

Yea, that was the AutoMag 44 in Sudden Impact. I had to look it up, thought it was the Wildey. Still, cool toy.

Wildey was used in Death Wish... I wanna say it was the 3rd movie, but those flicks were so cheesy that it doesn't matter.

Sudden Impact was definitely the Auto Mag, creation of Harry Sanford of AMT/IAI fame. Harry Sanford was a brilliant designer and may have been an even better schmoozer and marketer -- he got that Auto Mag weaseled on to the big screen by contacting Clint Eastwood quite some time before that movie was made.

I have -no- hands on experience with either of these legendary handguns but the Auto Mag definitely preceded and must have been an inspiration for the Wildey.

For what it's worth, though I have no idea about values and such, I believe the Wildey is probably a better handgun and the adjustable gas port is a big key to that. If I wanted to own one to shoot and love, I'd pick the Wildey for sure.

Man, you got a COOL pistol!
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

I have one empty case and one loaded round, for my cartridge collection. You can't have 'em, sorry.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

The .475 Wildey Magnum is most famous for its appearance in Death Wish 3, where the Wildey (chambered for this cartridge) was a signature weapon of Paul Kersey, a character portrayed by Charles Bronson (using his own personal Wildey firearm).
