Tom Swisher at All Season Sports in Wooster is a great guy to deal with. Very fair pricing and his FFL Fees are very reasonable. He is a Davidson's dealer and can get what you want. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat. Nice to go in and sit down and have a chat and handle whatever gun you want.

Okay - my searching has turned up nothing really.

What I'm looking for is

A) in the Greater Cleveland area. A bit west/east, okay
B) Rifle range. Able to load more than one round in a magazine at a time, unlike Stonewall. (Not that I would go crazy, but one round per magazine? Come on)
C) Indoor or Outdoor.

ODNR Class A range at Grand River Wildlife Area. 45 minutes east of Cleveland (from I-71 & I-480 Interchange), Outdoor, 25, 50, 100 yd ranges, Covered shooting stations, Supervised by ODNR personnel, Cost $24 for the year or $5 for the day, permit must be bought before you come, They are sold wherever you buy hunting or Fishing licenses. You can shoot whatever, with the exception of no full auto, and no rapid fire.

The downside is the I believe they are closed in Jan & Feb, But I could be wrong on the months.

Nice. I'll have to check that out. Maybe worth a drive out that way. Any more suggestions?

The largest stock of Sig Sauer is at Top Gun Supply in Chesterland, one of 3 sig parts dealers in the Country. The showroom is open Saturdays, but the internet is 24/7 at http://www.topgunsupply.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

I can't wait till Grand River Target range opens up in March. It's gotta be the best kept secret in the Cleveland area. And you can't beat the price. $24 for the entire season.

BIG SHAFE wrote:Midewest Gun Club - http://www.midwestgunclub.com/ - Located in Canal Fulton (Off RT. 21 and south of RT. 93). Very friendly and helpful people that work there. They have a small selection of firearms and accessories. They also have a classroom on site which they use it for CCW & OPOTA classes.

+1 for Midwest. I used to shoot there when Ed Roman owned the establishment. He is a great instructor, I give him the credit for teaching me to shoot. Well the helpful, and friendliness that he brought to that business has been passed on to the Owners of Midwest. I took my wife there once and she was completely impressed with everyone's great and helpful attitude, both the employees and patrons. I am looking forward to going out there this week to try out my new Glock 22.

Sugarcreek Pro Gun closed, no answer at Lauhorner

Post by Ferrofab »

I have been looking at purchasing a new CCW. I called several of the Dayton area gun stores/ranges and discovered that Sugarcreek Pro Gun was out of business and I got no answer from Lauhorner's in Springfield. Today's Dayton Daily News (Dec 31, 2009 page 6 of the Neighbors section) had an article about the former manager of Sugarcreek Pro Gun (I thought he was the owner) Vince Amann . Apparently, there are issues involving guns left at the store for consignment sale or repair. According to the newspaper, the store closed in April 2009 and the holder of the FFL ( Roger Harris not Vince Amann ) decided to sell guns out of an archery store in Carlisle. Vince says the guns were taken to the Carlisle location, but apparently the District Attorney feels there is more to the story, as Vince got a chance to plead "Not Guilty" to "theft by decption" in Xenia Municipal Court on Dec 10,2009. The article also stated that Vince Amann was unable to obtain a FFL so that he could remain in Bellbrook. Any ideas on why an experienced gun store manager could not get a FFL?

It seems as though a new store is opening in the old Sugarcreek Pro Gun location. The new store is owned by Perry and Nancy Fitch. No idea on the name of the new store, but I heard it is open and is in the process of being "stocked".

I visited some nice folks at The Dayton Armory in Beavercreek (937 429-2606) located just a few stores down from Lofinos. Bill Perry at Vandalia Range and Armory couldn't be any nicer, and they seemed to have the best prices in the area (937 387-0485). I was disappointed in what they would offer for "trade-in value" on my old S&W 38 revolver, but they were quick to point out I could do much better with a private sale. Look for an upcoming ad in the "For Sale" section.

Any good ranges West of Cleveland? I'm looking for outdoor ranges that allow rifle (up to 100 yds) Trap & sporting clays and defensive handgun shooting I.E. Rapid fire and drawing from a holster and concealment. I belong to a club in Medina which is about a 1hr drive and doesn't thrill me anyhow & I could always head out to A&A which I plan to do but I'd like something closer.

I thought about west branch but they require a cold range and I'm not into the hassle of unloading my CC weapon or leaving it in the car to go shootin'

Thanks for the info, however I read the NOSC rules and from what I've heard about WBRPC both require a cold range, I.E. I must unload my CCW weapon even if I'm not shooting it I really don't like this rule much, I'm not sure I'm willing to compromise. :|

Nothing against you Glock Rock I do appreciate you posting the info.

Try this out, punch in your Zip code and select "places to shoot", try a 50 mile radius IMO

I just got back from Stonewall. It's like an icebox in the range. Wear a heavy jacket and gloves. I didn't complain but someone else did and I'm pretty sure the guy who worked there said the heaters were on full blast.
