stand your ground was allegedly a key component in the trial, along with the pattern of behavior of the girl who was shot.

"David Zeyen, deputy chief counsel in the criminal division of the prosecutor's office, previously told The Dispatch that the law changes are impeding convictions when self-defense is claimed."

Maybe they have been getting too many convictions on self defense cases and they should review the evidence in light of the law before charging.
