In addition to losing her Glock she'll probably lose her job, as Lyft prohibits their drivers from carrying weapons, including pepper gel.
Even Uber doesn't go that far, provided pepper gel is legal where you are at.
KETTERING — Kettering police are investigating after a fight between a Lyft driver and a passenger led to a shooting Thursday morning.
News Center 7 is gathering new information from police and witnesses for News Center 7 starting at 5:00 p.m.
According to a spokesperson for the Kettering Police Department, a female Lyft driver was transporting a male via Lyft, and the two began physically fighting while inside the vehicle. This resulted in the Lyft driver drawing her firearm.
The two then fought over the firearm, causing one round to be shot off.
Once at Meijer, the man got out of the vehicle with the Lyft driver’s Glock 17 handgun and fled on foot to an unknown location, the spokesperson said.
A K9 track was attempted but the suspect was unable to be located.
Police are still working to determine where the shooting took place as it happened while they were still driving in the vehicle and before getting to Meijer.
UPDATE: At least the police are sympathetic to her carrying, and maybe it had some effectiveness, as his motive for running off might've been the shot fired. They're saying though that he wasn't injured.
“She claimed the male made some sort of statement to her saying that he didn’t want to hurt her and that he just wanted to be given a ride,” Officer Cynthia James, Public Information Officer for Kettering Police said.
The driver attempted to reach for her gun, but when the man saw it, he also reached for the gun and a struggle ensued. As the two fought over the firearm, one round was shot off.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
“It sounds like it could have been a lot worse if she didn’t have a means to protect herself,” James said.
The suspect has not been located at this time. He’s described as having a short beard with gray in it. He was wearing a green hoodie, blue jeans, and a dark-colored beanie hat.
In the video there is an interview with a Meijer shopper who is allegedly afraid now to shop at Meijer because this guy is now loose with a gun. The Meijer is simply where she pulled over at, not allegedly his destination, and I doubt he's still there now.
Yeah, she will probably lose her job. And the reason is she is a financial liability for the company carrying the gun for protection. The hell with her safety, it's the money they fear they will lose in a lawsuit. We all know that. The company is not responsible if the employee get hurt on the job because it's due to a criminal act which they would not be liable for. But if the criminal gets shot he could sue the company. That's our new legal system.

Every job I ever had except for 1 of them had rules against carrying of guns, none of them had rules against pepper spray or gel like Lyft does.
There was one place that had a rule against carrying a gun but it wasn't a corporate owned place and the owner said if you had to defend yourself
and used a gun you would be suspended with pay for at least one day, maybe longer depending on the circumstances, but being fired wasn't an automatic punishment.
