Thinking about heading up on the 31st for the Pop Up Pistol match. Will see how I'm feeling that weekend and also what the weather is like.

I've already told family, not to look for me Aug 30 and Aug 31 unless they come with me to Perry. I would not miss it for the world. Dusting off the reloading presses and getting buzzy.

I will be there fo sho! What do most people run for the rifle pop ups? This will be my first try at those. Is a 16" AR15 with a 4x optic usually up to the task?

Dan, anything that will reach out 300 meters, and hit the targets. They are the same targets that they use on the pistol pop-ups.

I Zero @ 300, but 200 would work. The only thing I found is watch the wind. C.P. does develop a strong West wind at times. Try to use a heaver bullet. I use 62gr. So watch your windage.

I zero at 300M also. That should get you 6-8 inches high on those shorter range targets, max. Dead on at 300M, and with the wind at Camp Perry, I want that one right. I have used a 1x EoTech very successfully on the pop-ups.
Man, I hope I can make it this year. It has been a long time since the last rifle pop-up.

OK so 300M zero it is. Now to find a place to actually be able to zero at 300 meters and we are all set.

Hornady makes a great online ballistic calculator. Play around with your load and zero yardages.
Put in 328 yards for 300 meters.

Wow, a 15 mph crosswind gives 20" of drift

Yep that sounds close. At 300 and 15 mph west wind, 20" drift.

For a first timer, what all do I need to bring? Aside from firearms, ammo, eye and ear protection...
I've had consistently good results with ether.
