Picked up my CHL this morning! [Ohio]

Post by makystir »

Howdy,

I've been a registered member since last August, but just picked up my CHL today. I've got a Ruger LCR .357 which I intend to use as my primary carry gun. I'll probably end up using .38 personal defense rounds though, those .357's sting coming out of a 16oz revolver!

Any advice on holsters would be greatly appreciated, I'm looking to pick up a pocket holster as well as an IWB holster but there are a million options out there.

Thanks!

Welcome!

As far as holsters are concerned, you can't go wrong with a Crossbreed Supertuck. Just be prepared to wait 6 weeks or so for delivery.

Welcome to OFCC!

I don't personally care for IWB carry, but as soontobedeity said, lots of people around here speak highly of either the Crossbreed Supertuck or the Comp-Tac Minotaur.

Hello and welcome. I recommend purchasing an IWB (or OWB for that matter) holster which doesn't collapse when the gun is drawn out, this makes reholstering a safer and easier operation. That quality allows one to do more drawing practice without difficulty, always a good thing. There are some el-cheapos out there that just don't cut the mustard for that reason.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Welcome to the forum.

I'll throw in another vote for the Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe IWB...I use it with my Glock 26.

Again though...it was a solid 6.5 weeks from order date to in my mailbox, worth every penny and every day of waiting.

Welcome!!!

With regard to the holster... You will collect a drawer full and then some. You will likely end up using one of the first couple that you bought.

Congrats!

I recommend getting a cheapie Uncle Mike's or similar pocket holster. There's really nothing to these, it's just a padded pocket with some grippy rubbery stuff on the outside so it will stick to the inside of your pocket when you draw. I have an Ace Case pocket holster, found here for $5.97 :

It's served me well. As far as an IWB holster, you've got many more choices. Get something comfortable. :)
