Fatal shooting in LA area deemed self defense by DA

I don't know if the shooter had a carry license or even needed one at the location where the shooting occurred.

Something I forgot to mention in the OP about this particular story. It has something possibly educational for concealed carriers.
The victim was shot twice in the chest while the suspect had two gunshot wounds to his right arm and bruising and swelling to his face, Wijesing said.

The suspect claimed that while he was seated, the victim approached him, called him names and threatened to hit him, the prosecutor said.

“Suspect knew victim had mental health issues and had previously been involved in violent fights. In fear, suspect unholstered his gun, pointed it, and asked victim to leave. Instead, victim punched the suspect. In fear for his life, suspect shot the victim twice,” Wijesing said.

There were three casings near the victim, one bullet hole in the ceiling and two bullet holes in a door in the kitchen with an upward trajectory, Wijesing said.
Two observations. First, a minor one, the news media is calling the "victim" the attacker, and the "Suspect" the defender, even though the DA deemed it self defense.

The more important thing is the real victim pointing a gun at the attacker when the victim knew the attacker had mental health issues and allowed the attacker to get into arms reach or was already in arms reach before eventually hitting the guy in the chest. It could've turned out badly for the defender.
