So...awhile back a buddy had ordered some of these bullets:
Matt's Bullets
He has a Handi-Rifle in .500 S&W Magnum and figured these would be fun. He gave me five (5) of them to load for revolver rounds.
Consulted this website for load data:
http://reloadammo.com/500sw.htm
And off I went. Loaded with 25.0-gr Lil' Gun, WLR primers, and 2.317-2.339" COAL.
Ran them over the chrony yesterday:
72 F, 58% RH, 30.21" Hg
Average Velocity (fps) = 1054
Extreme Spread (fps) = 40
Recoil was...impressive... They also made the hanging steel target dance pretty well.
These babies weigh 60% MORE than a 1 ounce deer slug from a shotgun!
What purpose might these serve? I dunno...but that old Terminator movie showed a 12-ga at least able to give the old Arnold-bot pause, so maybe these would as well?

Just don't tell anybody that "nobody needs this kind of ammo", or they will get outlawed in a few weeks...
I always thought about getting some of these bullets as well, but somehow the 440 grain cast ones are bad enough for me. On their website they claim that they had the 700 gr bullets loaded up to 1200 fps (wonder which barrel length). In my S&W 500 7.5" PC, they must hurt...

I used a 6.5” barrel for these numbers.
