Hello all,
Needing some help ASAP and a friend said that this would be the group to ask. I was recently out for dinner with my daughter when I ran into someone I arrested years ago in a previous life (he raped an 8yo girl). He stated that he would love to meet up with me another time and "repay me for what I did". I am no longer in law enforcement and our previous interactions weren't even in Ohio but lucky me, he evidently has moved here!
I am in Knox County and am told that it will be the FULL 45 days to get anything from then so I am looking at going to another county. I can go to: Richland, Ashland, Holmes, Coshocton, Licking, Marrow or Delaware County. Does anyone know if any of these are quick in their turnaround? I have since then started carrying openly, but that has its limits. I really need a CCW ASAP. The guy is a weasel, but even weasels can bite.
Thanks for your time and assistance,
Mike

Re: Need help ASAP
There is a process by which you can get a Temporary Emergency License. I suggest you go to the sheriff's office and tell them your circumstances. You'll still have to go through the regular process to get a conventional five year license. Others here will weigh in with more advice.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Re: Need help ASAP
I believe Holmes is very fast in their turnaround time, but as Brian stated, get an emergency CHL today.

Re: Need help ASAP
Only if he does annual qualifications with an agency still. Unfortunately, it sounds like he was an LEO in another state so most departments aren't going to say "sure, come shoot with us." Heck, our attorneys won't even certify those that retire from our agency. They claim there is a liability there that we then hold for someone that is no longer employed with us. So we accept the financially liable burden with no power to do anything else.evan price wrote:If you're former LEO don't you get LEOSAcarry privelages?

My son got his CHL issued in Ashland County when he lived in Medina a few years ago. Turnaround was 2-3 days.

You need either a police report OR a sworn affidavit attesting to why you need an emergency license.aobfarm wrote:Correct. At the time I was law enforcement in Indiana.

Also, the emergency license is only good for 90 days then a full license must be obtained.
Lastly, there is NO priority on issuing emergency licenses. So, unless you live in a speedy county, you may still need an appointment and they may still take 45 days to issue.
MY OPINION... find an instructor that is teaching a class soon (they are all over the place and I'm sure some on here can recommend one) and then simply apply for a normal license. Overall, it's cheaper (so you aren't applying for two licenses.)

Re: Need help ASAP
Agreed. The "emergency" license process in Ohio is quite silly. Better to just knock out the class and get a standard license.JediSkipdogg wrote:MY OPINION... find an instructor that is teaching a class soon (they are all over the place and I'm sure some on here can recommend one) and then simply apply for a normal license. Re: Need help ASAP
Thanks guys. I already have the class, that's why I was asking what County had the fastest turnaround. As it is I started doing open carry when possible and hopefully I will have enough time off work to apply for my permit this coming week.
