FBI running out of places to bruise...The FBI lost fingerprints taken from the rifle agents found in the Texas School Book Depository after the president was assassinated in Dallas, new files have revealed.
At the time of the investigation in 1963, agents and outside experts concluded that a palm print taken from the barrel off the rifle belonged to Lee Harvey Oswald.
But 15 years later in July 1978, the agency revealed that the fingerprints had gone missing in their vast archives.
Dallas Police say they sent over the original fingerprints to the FBI, and that those prints were never returned to them.

Re: FBI kept and lost the prints on JFK murder weapon
there was an interesting show on one of the history channels last night examining some of the documents that were released. unless it was total malarky, it sure showed that there was a cover up. the show did not prove that Lee Harvey Oswald did NOT do it. that wasn't the gist of it. but that he didn't act alone, that the Soviets and Cuba were involved and that possibly J. Edgar Hoover shut down and covered up the investigation so that we didn't end up in a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union/Cuba for killing Kennedy by proxy and thus touch off WW3.
