Another great Quora answer. UK vs. USA

Post by AlanM »

The question: Can a pro-gun American justify their nation's gun laws to a Brit who believes that a gun-less society is safer?

Since asked this question has gotten over 100 answers.

The one linked to below, IMHO, is one of the best.

BTW, I checked because I couldn't believe the numbers. UK had over 183,000 drug offences per 100K population in 2000 compared to 560 per 100K for the US. http://www.nationmaster.com/country-inf ... g-offences

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

Many of those numbers are hard to believe. Maybe we don't have as much of a problem as we thought.

Don't take the UK numbers as anything but a fantasy, They have been cooking the books for years. Google up "Inspector Gadget's blog" to see just how bad it can get.

Something is wrong with that data because I show in 2000 they only had 10,399 CRIMES per 100k. My guess is where ever they pulled their data from they read it wrong. It should probably be 183 per 100k.
