Visiting NYC

Post by Ray81 »

Since New York doesn't accept Ohio CHL, what type of tools are legal to carry in NYC? Chilli powder?

We need national reciprocity. I can drive a car in NYC with my Ohio drivers license, but can't carry in NYC with my Ohio CHL. Frustrating... but will have to adjust while in NYC.

People can't even carry on a New York state license, within NYC. In the early days of the federal LEOSA, armed cops from other places, even ones there on business, would sometimes get busted for carrying there.

It seems like most anything useful for self defense is outlawed there.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Take a cane - a good, solid "made for purpose" cane. I think TDI used to sell one...

Just don't go. Nothing of value in NYC.

I was not aware of these. I sometimes use a cane to help me get around. Thanks JAS!

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.

Heck, I own one and didn't think to suggest that. Yeah, even NYC doesn't want to step on the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Taking a cane to a gunfight?

In all seriousness, years ago in my truckin' days, I used to carry a flare gun. Probably not legal then or now, but who could argue about having a safety device available.

I know you're kidding Steve but sword canes are illegal more places than not. Canes like the TDI/ Ka- Bar, legal pretty much everywhere.

I had a client back in the 70's who had a cane that was a .22 rifle. He was pretty good with it, too.
