Six Reasons to Vote
Hopefully this is not a dupe. I just thought it was a nice article. From Forbes magazine:

Re: Six Reasons to Vote
I get annoyed by folks who only vote every four years for the "big" one. I suppose if you aren't a home owner or don't have a stake in your local community, all the other elections simply don't mean a whole lot to you, but they sure mean a lot of tangible stuff at the local level to some of us.
Perhaps I should refine my stance--it's not so much that I'm annoyed that they don't vote in every election (I'd MUCH prefer that, actually), it's much more that I worry about (what simply HAS to be) very careless, hazardous voting in EVERY other selection available for folks who only show up once every four years.
I remember getting really angry when MTV got all righteous and tried to convince every idiot youngster in this nation to go out and "Rock the Vote", the result of which ended up being Bill Clinton. The very idea that Madonna convinced some kid who otherwise didn't care to show up at the polls and drop a slew of votes for candidates in a completely reckless manner simply turned my stomach. I have every reason to believe that a big part of what got Bill Clinton elected was his ability to blow on a saxophone on MTV.
I shudder when I think of the SAME type of thing back in 2008 that put the current President in the office. I wonder -- or perhaps I'd rather not know -- but what other items on that ballot were all those people casting a vote for?! Did they have any idea whatsoever who & what they were choosing?

I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

Very good points. It is not by accident that "get out the vote" campaigns are concentrated in places like liberal arts colleges, inner cities, etc. Places with a high concentration of "impressionable" people.Sevens wrote:I get annoyed by folks who only vote every four years for the "big" one. Yep! Very annoyed at the (eta: fresh out of high school) college crowd touting BHO's tax "reduction" for the middle class as a reason to vote for him. When's the last time they actually filed a 1040? Oh wait....they haven't?!?
"Awesome" is code word for CC in my house. Cuts down on the kids asking, loudly, in public, if I am in possession of anything that goes bang.

Re: Six Reasons to Vote
The veneer of this President's Rock Star status that got him elected is badly tarnished and worn out from his daily campaigning for the last four years. Everyone I know is tired of hearing and seeing his Socialist Experiment rhetoric daily on the tube about redistributing "the wealth", downsizing the Military, telling business owners "they didn't build that", and trying to tear apart and destroy the very foundations of what the name 'America' stands for. We will get to witness what the American peoples' response to his words and actions will be on Nov. 6th.Sevens wrote:I get annoyed by folks who only vote every four years for the "big" one. And that's what scares me. Sorry but I don't have much faith in the American voter anymore...not after what they did in 2008 and - according to recent polling - what 50-something percent of voters are still contemplating doing.curmudgeon3 wrote:We will get to witness what the American peoples' response to his words and actions will be on Nov. 6th.

If one isn't going to make an educated vote, I'd rather they make no vote at all.
Personally, I hate people that vote party lines. And I'll say it now, our current president was elected because he was black. People voted in 2008 because of race and race only and that {inappropriate language} me off as well. They were excited to have their first black president.

Re: Six Reasons to Vote
I'll admit I'm narrow minded when it comes to voting. I vote strictly based on a politicians 2nd Amendment stance...period...regardless of party affiliation. If a person is pro-gun, then they get my vote - and I'll completely disregard where they stand on all other issues. As for race, if an African-American or Hispanic candidate should show up someday and they are truly pro-gun, then they're cool with me.JediSkipdogg wrote:Sevens wrote:If one isn't going to make an educated vote, I'd rather they make no vote at all.
