Question about Hollywood Casino
Good morning all, I've been a long time lurker, but newly registered to the site. I did a search and couldn't come up with the exact answer I was looking for, so wanted to ask here. I am traveling tomorrow to the Hollywood casino near Cincinnati and will be staying the night at the hotel. I have read that concealment is not allowed in the casino itself, but I was wondering if I was able to take my firearm to lock up in my hotel room, or if I needed to lock up in car or the casino's "gun check". I wasn't aware if the fact that the casino was separate from the hotel, the breezeway, made any difference or not. Thanks in advance!

Hollywood casino is here in Toledo. Did Cincinnati go with the same theme?

Re: Question about Hollywood Casino
Hollywood has several casinos across the US. The one the original poster referred to is in Lawrenceburg Indiana maybe 30 minutes away from Cincy.dingode wrote:Hollywood casino is here in Toledo. Did Cincinnati go with the same theme?
For Jlew44: The casino is seperate from the hotel. They do indeed have a handgun check-in out in the entrance area, it's also a security office. Find an employee and they will direct you to the place and help you secure your firearm if you don't wuish to leave it in vehicle or hotel room. Casinos are one of the few places off-limits to carry in indiana by state law. Having said that the Indiana State Police are always present, also by law, so the casino itself is pretty safe. I'm also told that casino security (not armed) will gladly escort any customer to their vehicle or hotel room if they so desire. (Not the worst idea if you've happened to hit the jackpot, so to speak.)
If you decide to check in your handgun as described above, do not attempt to retrieve it afterwards if you've been consuming alcohol. There is no "zero tolerance" by Ind. law in that regard, but my understanding is that the casino and police maintain the right to refuse to return a patron's gun if they are deemed to be under the influence, as you might well imagine.
In general Indiana is a very firearms friendly state.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Re: Question about Hollywood Casino
I guess I should have elaborated a little more, my original plan was to check into the hotel room and secure my handgun in a travel case and then proceed to the gaming floor to gamble. So by what was posted above by Brian D, looks like I'm ok to do so, if I don't choose to "check in" my gun. Thanks for the help it is much appreciated!!

The new Hollywood Casino in Columbus (Ohio) is set to open in October.
Anyone know if they will offer a gun check service?

Re: Question about Hollywood Casino
I'm at Hollywood in Cincinnati this week. There are signs on the casino doors, and it is an Indiana law that they're not allowed.
The hotel, I'm not sure about. I stayed there once, hated it, and refuse to pay the prices.
I locked mine up in a safe in the trunk.
The hotel and casino are owned together.

The casinos in Indiana offer a "gun check," but that's provided by state law. Ohio isn't so fortunate...

Re: Question about Hollywood Casino
There were no signs on the hotel doors that I saw, so I checked into the hotel room ( was comped) and locked my gun up, then went down to the casino. No issues at all. I would venture to guess that the casino here in Columbus will be off limits, but that's only an assumption.udbrky wrote:I'm at Hollywood in Cincinnati this week. Re: Question about Hollywood Casino
Just to be clear, there are no casinos in Cincinnati, yet. There are casinos to the west in Indiana, but the Horseshoe Casino being built in Cincinnati is not finished.udbrky wrote:I'm at Hollywood in Cincinnati this week. ...

Best leave it in your room, your hotel room is attached an be a unnecessary walk as their gun check in is way downstairs and took a extra 15 minutes to get a agent to meet an walk down there to stow it in a traditional gun locker they use as LEO's
