My wife carries for her job. What is nice is, when we go shooting together and come home. She will break down her gun and mine as well and clean them. :D Doesnt get much better than that.

Maybe I'm having early morning syndrome again but I can not figure out who this is in response to and what you mean by it.
My thought would be the OP.

I thought about some more and figured it was towards the OP as well. Like I said, early morning syndrome. :?

The wife said she would also. After i got off the floor i began searching fo classes for them . The biggest thing is like the poster above said, time away from work and school to fit in the classes. Still looking and since then my sister has also expressed an interest.

Is that based on the fact that he found a cheap place? I've got no association with them, nor have I heard anything about their training, but I assume it meets the requirements. If it was substandard I probably would have heard something.

Everybody has choices to make based on what is important to them, for some that is cost, for others it is based on the type of quality they want (again, I am not commenting on their quality, this is just a general comment). For our model we have elected to have a permanent classroom with appropriate displays and equipment, and a minimum of three instructors per course, usually 4. Having a permanent classroom increases our costs slightly, but we also provide a lot of value, from providing food to having a large number of firearms for use if a student does not have one or wants to try something different. We also have a very low student to instructor ratio. Some people prefer the intimacy of training in a home. I don't want to disparage anyone's training model as long as it is an acceptable program that meets the ORC. I like to think our way is best but not everyone will agree; that's why we have so many different ways of meeting the goal. Same as why there are so many different guns available, everyone has an opinion of what will work best for them. Having said that, 45ACP is the only caliber that anyone should ever use and it must be shot from a 1911 (just kidding :wink: )

should have added to my original... just the thought of "cheapest i could find". While I personally did take a very reasonably priced class , it was only after it came to me highly reccomended by people i know who took it before me. Was not meant to be a jab at the class mentioned. I just shudder a bit when it sounds like someone's only criteria is price. And yes i know and understand that times are tough, was merely an (apparently failed) attempt at humor.

And .45 is what i carry, but i like tupperware, so it's an XDm for me. :mrgreen:

Being as I haven't attended or seen other classes its hard to compare them to the one I attended. I felt the instructor (Brandon) was really knowledgeable about teaching the ccw class and did an exceptionable job. He has a nice house in Mason where he holds the classes in his finished basement where he has a class room set up. He uses power point with some hands on training to make sure you know how to handle a firearm before he will let you handle one for your range time. He had several different calibers and gun types for our range time so we could feel how different pistols, revolvers, and calibers felt. There are other guys he uses to teach but they take turns teaching so you only meet the one that does your particular class. I even went back and took the in home self defense course from them. They offer a few different types of classes. They have a website you can check out. Its http://www.advancedshooting.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and also http://www.cincinnaticcw.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My wife just called to let me know she made it to her hotel safely. She is on another road trip for a few days and I couldnt go this time. She met up with another real estate lady to look at some properties her company is thinking about purchasing. They drive out to the sticks in southern Kentucky to look at a farm that got foreclosed on. When they pulled in the drive a guy in another car pulled in behind them. It kind of scared them so they looked for a way to go around him to get back on the road but the driveway was to skinny to go around him. the guy gets out and starts walking up to the car and the real estate lady my wife is with pulled back her jacket to expose her gun and told my wife to only crack the window a little and ask what he wanted. Turned out he just knew the previous owner and was just seeing what they where doing there. When he found out they are looking to purchase it he just went on his way. It kind of shocked my wife when the lady pulled her jacket back and my wife seen she was armed. My wife said she doesn't look like the type to carry a gun. The lady told my wife she needs to get her chl and arm herself asap and she's crazy if she doesn't. This lady just verified it for my wife that she really wants her chl now. She told me to get her signed up asap.

My girlfriend recently asked me what kind of handgun she should get. I've taken her to the range a few times, but that was a total surprise to me. It sure is a nice change of pace from my ex who was a complete anti. Looks like this one is a keeper.

Isn't it amazing how many things: a) parents tell children; b) spouses tell each other --- that are completely disregarded until someone ELSE says something, then it's like an epiphany. Should be glad for the end result though. Always nice to have the wife say something like "let's go shopping for a gun".
