Not just converted, but "easily converted". The store owner requested to see the ATF's info and was told he'd have to file a FOIA request, which of course will probably be denied. Don't want to let criminals know how it's done of course.

This happened almost nine years ago. Lots of info about it happening but I did not find any followup info on whether ATF destroyed the Airsofts or gave them back.

This was my first thought when I heard about that ATF confiscation - that it was a run of airsoft ar15s with accurately sized lowers, and therefore they would legally be considered firearms.
