HR 7115: The DIY firearm prohibition

Post by bignflnut »

It used to be that creating your very own AR platform build in your home was legal. But House Bill HR 7115, sponsored by at least 16 Democrats, attempts to put a stop to it. How? Here is the summary of the bill:

“To prohibit the sale, acquisition, distribution in commerce, or import into the United States of certain firearm receiver castings or blanks, assault weapon parts kits, and machinegun parts kits and the marketing or advertising of such castings or blanks and kits on any medium of electronic communications, to require homemade firearms to have serial numbers, and for other purposes.”

The bill was introduced in the House on November 2, 2018 by Frank Pallone Jr (D-NJ) as the “3–D Firearms Prohibitions Act.” But it goes much, much further than just the bulky plastic guns once called “ghost guns” but aren’t. The Democrats have taken aim at AR builds (no pun intended).

The “DO-IT-YOURSELF ASSAULT WEAPON BAN“
3D guns and bumpstock / fast component bans are just the latest attempt to justify what started in 34 and 68. Now that it's "deal-making" time...guess who is going to be left with the short end of the stick? (A: People who will always vote for him)

This is an affront to freedom of the press and publication when 3D material is stifled.

Javelin, it has been said many times that pro gun groups aren't interested in anything but 2A issues. ERPOs and due process being eviscerated seems to have been received with open arms (that's the 5th and 14th, ya'all).

For those who can cope with a little less positivity in the discussion, here's a little rant by one analyst noting how it only took 4 days after the election to forward the winners agenda.

Not sure why you find it odd that single issue organizations are, well, single issue... However, (and I can't speak for any other Ohio gun rights organizations) for the record, during our advocacy day at the Statehouse on Tuesday OFCC lobbied *hard* against Kasich's proposed ERPO bill introduced in the House & Senate this year (HB585/SB288).
