The stunning defeat of President Trump’s chosen Senate candidate in Alabama on Tuesday amounted to a political lightning strike — setting the stage for a worsening Republican civil war that could have profound effects on next year’s midterm elections and undermine Trump’s clout with his core voters.

The GOP primary victory by conservative firebrand Roy Moore over Sen. Luther Strange could also produce a stampede of Republican retirements in the coming months and an energized swarm of challengers.

It marked yet another humiliation for the Washington-based Republican establishment, particularly Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), whose allies pumped millions of dollars into the race to prop up Strange and reassure his colleagues that they could survive the Trump era.

SNIP

“If you’re an incumbent, you have to assume the wind is against you,” said consultant Tom Ingram, a longtime Corker adviser. “If you do run, you take nothing for granted and leave nothing on the table. You start out with one big strike against you: You’re an incumbent Republican senator.”

SNIp

With Corker retiring, seven Senate Republicans are expected to run for reelection next year: Wicker, Heller, Jeff Flake (Ariz.), Ted Cruz (Texas), Deb Fischer (Neb.), Orrin G. Hatch (Utah) and John Barrasso (Wyo.).

For months, only three of them — Flake, Heller and Wicker — were widely seen as vulnerable to primary upsets. But in the wake of Alabama, GOP operatives are no longer ruling out an expanded map of targets for Bannon and his associates, such as former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who stormed behind Moore’s candidacy to reassert her influence within the party.

SNIP

“For Mitch McConnell and Ward Baker and Karl Rove and Steven Law, all the instruments that tried to destroy Judge Moore and his family, your day of reckoning is coming,” Bannon said Monday night at Moore’s election eve rally, listing the names of Republican operatives who are allied with McConnell and spent more than $10 million to boost Strange’s candidacy.

“They think you’re a pack of morons, they think you’re nothing but rubes, they have no interest at all in what you have to say, in what you have to think or what you want to do,” Bannon told the crowd.

SNIP

“More and more Republicans may say I don’t want the hassle from the activists on the left and the Trump Republicans on the right,” said GOP consultant and Trump critic Rick Wilson. “There’ll be more who say, ‘I’ll hang up my spurs.’ ”
If we're getting more Roy Moore types and losing more Luther Strange types, it's a great day.
Bannon is on the march, for sure.

President Trump was "embarrassed and {inappropriate language}" after the candidate he endorsed in Alabama's GOP Senate runoff election lost, fueling a late-night tirade against his staff and GOP leaders, CNN is reporting.

Trump reportedly felt misled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who had pressured allies to support Sen. Luther Strange, the GOP establishment-backed candidate in the election who lost to former judge Roy Moore on Tuesday in the race for Attorney General Jeff Sessions's Senate seat.

The president had previously expressed his discomfort with his endorsement, saying at a rally for Strange late last week that he "might have made a mistake."

I got a 404 not found when I tried to click on the link. Regardless however, CNN's alleged reporting about some alleged tirade is very suspicious. It doesn't make sense Trump would react that way when he casually said at a rally for Strange that he might've made a mistake, and that he was reported to have said prior to today that if Moore won he would support him also. As far as Trump reportedly feeling mislead by McConnell, that I can believe, and for good reason.

Now the GOPe is pilling on...in a desparate effort to lose the Sessions seat to some Dem in fact, as opposed to a Rep In Name Only
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said, “If these allegations are true, he must step aside.”

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) argued, “If there is any shred of truth..."

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said, “If there is any truth at all to these horrific allegations,..."

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said, “I’m horrified and if this is true ..."

Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) said, “It was very troubling … if what we read is true and people are on the record so I assume it is,” ...

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) tweeted on Thursday, “The allegations against Roy Moore are deeply disturbing and disqualifying. He should immediately step aside and allow the people of Alabama to elect a candidate they can be proud of.”
McCain didn't do the if thing...but ok...here's your GOPe Senate, which won't get any MAGA agenda items passed...all the MOORE reason we need Roy...

Update: The National Republican Senatorial Committee has reportedly removed itself from its joint fundraising agreement with Roy Moore.

Politico reports that Federal Election Commission paperwork filed on Friday showed that the National Republican Senatorial Committee is no longer listed as part of a joint fundraising committee with Moore's campaign, the Alabama Republican Party, and the Republican National Committee.

The other three entities remain in the contract, as of Friday afternoon.

I've read some terrible allegations about John McCain's record during the Vietnam war from other veterans. They're deeply disturbing. He should immediately resign from the Senate and allow the people of Arizona to elect a candidate they can be proud of.

Now there are stories that WaPo (owned by Bezos / Amazon) badgered the lady to come forward...that she didn't have a phone in her bedroom (mother contradicting story of daughter)
Judge Roy Moore, the GOP nominee for the United States Senate, announced Sunday evening at an event that he plans to sue the Washington Post for its series of hit pieces against him, his wife, his foundation, and his campaign.

Breitbart News was granted exclusive access to the event, which was closed to the press. After the Judge’s speech, his wife Kayla spoke out in a forthcoming exclusive Breitbart News interview — her first-ever interview with the press during this campaign and the first time she has spoken out publicly in response to the salacious allegations from the Post.

SNIP

“You saw, why would the Republicans want to back the Democrat?” Moore asked. “Doesn’t that seem strange? Odd? Well, not so, because they’d rather have him for two years and then elect a Republican from the establishment then elect me and have me there for two years. They are all in it together.”

SNIP

One man a few questions later asked him: “Judge Moore, how soon can you initiate your lawsuit on the Washington Post?”

“We have to investigate the charges, which is what we’re doing,” Moore replied. “They only published this last week. And now we’re finding a lot of things that need to be brought into the public light that haven’t been yet. As soon as we get ready, we will give them notice before that time.”
How dumb is one to invite a lawsuit from a Judge?

Monday at an event in Kentucky, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) addressed the sexual misconduct accusations leveled against former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in a report in The Washington Post.

McConnell said Roy Moore should step aside from his bid for the U.S. Senate.

A reporter asked, “Do you believe these allegations to be true?”

McConnell responded, “I believe the women. Yes”
Behold the GOPe indwelt Swamp. Is there any doubt why upstanding, honest persons don't attempt to enter politics?
Whither the GOPe cheerleaders? See how the elites think of you and your honest family, trying to improve your lot in life and abide by the law. See how they mock you. See how they despise you and poison your surroundings. Behold this political savior!

On Monday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox News @ Night,” Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill (R) said that the Alabama Republican Party can formally pull its support for its Senate nominee Judge Roy Moore, and if this happens and Moore still gets the most votes, the election would be null and void.

On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) called on Moore to withdraw from the race. The head of the Republican campaign committee, Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), said the Senate should vote to expel Moore if he is elected by Alabama voters.
They simply not going to allow this man to take the seat.

Well, on the positive side, his ex wife denies the allegations also, although I'm not sure how she would know anything for sure.
