Gander Mountain 8 day hold on gun

Post by tracker1 »

My wife found a deal on a Glock at GM and they had her fill out the FFL on a computer but they had her pay for the gun first. After about 5 minutes they come back and said there was a "delay" on her background check. We both have a CCL and no records. We buy about two guns a year and never had this happen. After the three day wait we come back and they tell us we have to wait 8 days, company policy. Are these people anti gun?

Not anti gun. Just anti successful business model. I hope you got one of their VERY rarely encountered good prices. For most of their existence, GM has been MSRP or worse.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Never shopped GM, but that's a bunch of crap !!
Technically, w/a CHL a background check is not necessary, most places still do.
Never had a waiting period. I bought numerous guns last year, too.
I'd rather have gotten my money back

Actually it's a store closing, my wife seen the sign and said we should stop. I didn't expect any deals cause they charged so much. We went inside and I seen a brand new Glock for 400.00 so I had to buy it, it was the last one. I never knew who they could sell guns to at their regular prices. They kept increasing the percentage off as time went by.

IIRC every time I have ever bought a gun from an FFL....paying them was the absolute last thing I did. The NICS check was done BEFORE I paid. After hearing the OP's unfortunate story, I'm going to insist on not handing over any money until my background check has been successfully completed.

There are some states (CA , NY) where 10 day background checks waits are part of the process, I think. I'd guess they institutionalzed that as company policy. Maybe tbr pay in arvance thing too?

Just kind of guessing here.

I finally got my G26, now I know what it feels like to have a waiting period after buying a gun, not cool.

GM is terrible and I'm glad they're closing down.

A buddy went to one in an attempt to trade up a Shield to a Glock and the counter employee mentioned that shouldn't as he'd just get ripped off. Their 'everything must go sales' had most of their firearms slightly above MSRP rather than below.

How they ever stayed in business that long is a mystery to me.
