AND it was this dude's DAY ONE...
It is interesting to note that Thursday was Zinke’s first day as Interior Secretary and repealing the onerous ban one of his first actions.

A Promise Kept: Trump Signs Repeal of Obama-Era Social Security Gun Prohibition Rule
On Tuesday, President Donald J. Trump signed the repeal of an Obama-era Social Security Administration (SSA) rule that would have resulted in some 75,000 law-abiding beneficiaries losing their Second Amendment rights each year.

Give him six months to prove himself, said an information technology supervisor. Give him a year, said a service manager. Give him four years, said a retired print shop owner.

“Give the man a chance,” said Crystal Matthews, a 59-year-old hospital employee. “They’re just going to fight him tooth and nail, the whole way.”

How does one commemorate 6 months of Trump (and all our newfound long-lost freedoms)?

Consider this the August entry...
With the departure from the White House of strategist Stephen K. Bannon, who helped shape the so-called nationalist-populist program embraced by Donald Trump in his unlikely path to election, a new phase of the Trump presidency begins. Given Trump’s nature, what comes next will hardly be conventional, but it may well be less willfully disruptive—which, to Bannon, had been the point of winning the White House.

The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over,” Bannon said Friday, shortly after confirming his departure. “We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency. But that presidency is over. It’ll be something else. And there’ll be all kinds of fights, and there’ll be good days and bad days, but that presidency is over.”
A little self important...but possibly correct.
One can easily imagine a lifelong democrat running on a populist agenda, being elected, and quickly becoming a swamp monster.

Even the die-hard fans like Ann Coulter are spitting mad:
If Trump wants to prove that he didn’t get the good ideas from Bannon, then it better be pedal-to-the-metal on deportations, the Wall, that tax hike on people who make more than $5 million a year, which I understand was Bannon’s idea but perhaps I was wrong. If that was Trump’s idea, then let’s have it!... Did you hear that on Wall Street, they were cheering today?”

In a conversation that amounted to a primal scream, Coulter repeatedly attacked her former hero for betraying his constituency, belittled White House aides such as Kellyanne Conway and Stephen Miller, accused the president of kowtowing to the same news media he professes to loathe, and otherwise raged at the dying of the wall along with any number of other populist policy prescriptions that Trump touted to beat the Republican establishment and Hillary Clinton.

“The millions of people who haven’t voted for 30 years and came out to vote for Trump, thinking ‘finally, here’s somebody who cares about us’—Nope!” Coulter declared. “Republicans, Democrats—doesn’t matter! Jeb exclamation point, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton—doesn’t matter. Goldman Sachs is running the country!”

Regarding the Coulter "pedal to the metal" comment, except for possibly deportations, it doesn't matter what Trump says or does. Trump can push the pedal all he wants, but the car won't go without the engine (the legislative branch) working. I don't follow Ann Coulter or Bannon, did they think they were helping to elect a King?

After 28 years (and counting) of military service, and working on a military base nearly every day of my career, I hoped to see a President who would respect the right to bear arms on a military base and live up to his or her campaign promises.

We are WELL beyond "day 1." Did he really mean what he said? To me the answer is clear.

How did I miss September? I'll keep that one in my pocket.
Now, after Vegas, let's see what the federal champion will do:
President Donald Trump is open to considering legislation that would ban "bump stocks" -- a firearm accessory used to more rapidly fire rounds -- but wants to hear more information on the matter before making a final determination.

Trump told reporters on Thursday he'd be looking into a proposed ban on "bump stocks" in the near future.
"We'll be looking into that in the next short period of time," Trump said, when asked about the proposed ban ahead of a dinner with military officers at the White House.

Earlier in the day, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said: "Right now, our focus, as we've said over the last couple of days, is on healing and uniting the country."
Who wants to keep the powder dry? Who wants to give the honeymoon period a spin?
Obviously this isn't happy talk and I'm sure that this comes as cold water after the euphoria of electoral victory. Facts don't consider your feelings. The fact is that he lied about CPZs because it's easy to whip up gun owning votes. Gun owners are as easily fed sound bites as some of the most ignorant food stamp single issue voters on the other side. We've been overlooked, dismissed, and taken for granted because we refuse to let Swamp people with Rs behind their names lose elections when they deserve to lose.

Thursday, November 16 marked 300 days since President Donald Trump took office on January 20. The third 100 days were even more tumultuous than the first 100 and second 100.

And much remains undone. There are still jobs to fill, promises to keep, and bills to sign. Trump has yet to notch a major legislative achievement (thanks, in part, to infighting and incompetence in Congress).

But the Trump administration seems, at last, to have found a rhythm.

SNIP

Meanwhile, the economy boomed, with growth surging to 3.1% in the third quarter. The stock markets soared, hitting constant new records. Trump’s overall approval was dismally low, but economic confidence at its highest level in decades, with tax reform potentially on the horizon.

It was a performance Trump touted on his visit to Asia, the longest by a U.S. president since the early 1990s. After 300 days, it seemed he had finally found his groove.
A groove overseas, nowhere near the Rights of the People.
#Winning!

The Senate's carry-bill version (S 446) is vastly different, it sits idle since Jan. 2017. Reporters act like they’re the same, just needs a vote, false (only 658 words).

The bills seem to say — if you can carry concealed in your home state with a permit, or if you don’t need a permit to do so in your state — you can carry concealed nationwide. But not quite.

The House bill makes LOCAL PRIVATE “gun-free zones” official federally.
The House bill makes LOCAL STATE “gun-free zones” official federally.

Depending on what those two bans include, where you can carry could be pretty small. Are local roads or rights-of-way “government property” and hence subject to bans?

A state like New York, already on record ready to obstruct the law, could conceivably ban guns on its roads, “government property,” and foul up the entire plan.

Next, your state can remove itself, you and the nation from the Reciprocity plan by repealing its permit law.

SNIP

Handguns are redefined, so possession of an empty magazine is now possession of a handgun (you read that right).

Possession of ammo for a handgun is also possession of a handgun. Both definitions (magazines, ammo) MUST be fixed.

A loaded ten-round magazine under the House bill would be 11 handguns…!?

Those parts are bound to be rewritten in committee, or we have trouble. What idiots write these things? I drafted corrective language below. 18 USC §926D(b)(1) and (2) (gun-free zones) should be deleted.

SNIP

The Clinton-Era Imaginary Gun-Free-School-Zone Is Quashed

A person who carries a firearm discreetly under the terms of this statute — with a state permit or in a state that doesn’t require one — is not subject to 18 USC §922q, the gun-free-school-zone law. Open carry is not included. The possible combinations leave unresolved questions. For example, is a person with a carry permit from a state without Constitutional Carry, who goes to a Con-Car state, immune to the gun-free-school-zones, or does the bill fail to protect a permittee outside their state of origin?

Other conditions exist, no need to think it further, since the language will likely change in conference.
Clear as mud.
How heartily we will cheer Rights free zones...

Using cutting-edge video game technology and animation, the U.S. Army and the Department of Homeland Security have developed a computer-based simulator that can train everyone from teachers to first responders on how to react to an active shooter scenario. The training center, housed at the University of Central Florida, offers several role-playing opportunities that can be used to train anyone in the world with a computer.

“With teachers, they did not self-select into a role where they expect to have bullets flying near them. Unfortunately, it's becoming a reality,” said Tamara Griffith, a chief engineer for the project. “We want to teach teachers how to respond as first responders.”

The $5.6 million program, known as the Enhanced Dynamic Geo-Social Environment, is similar to those used by the Army to train soldiers in combat tactics and scenarios using a virtual environment.

Originally designed for police and fire agencies, the civilian version is now being expanded to schools to allow teachers and other school personnel to train for active shooters alongside first responders. Homeland Security officials say the schools version should be ready for launch by spring.
Seems like a lot of expense and trouble that could be remedied by the stroke of a pen. Paging POTUS, anyone heard from POTUS on CPZs?

Instead of enhancing local freedoms, the State, claiming the ability to keep us safe, as they destroy civil society, will now train teachers to be first responders as they teach to the test.

While this looks like a 2A friendly idea, it is anything but. We're now going further into the concept that only State trained, State approved applicants who draw government paychecks are able to provide security for innocent and helpless minors. (Oh, and we're going to slap down the DHS / US Army cards for credibility.) We'll work it into the college curriculum for teaching degrees...

If you go back to the June post of this thread, there's a quote about not having firefighters in every school, but having fire extinguishers. It's a solid analogy. Now we're insisting that in order to get a special dispensation of grace and not be a felon for life, people must be trained by the State to use a piece of equipment that we regularly teach teens or younger to handle (handguns). How outrageous would it be to spend millions training people to use fire extinguishers, or activate a sprinkler system? How much expense and government licensing would we allow on fire control devices?

Yes, we're becoming that absurd.

Trump holds a meeting on immigration for the cameras and for all of the "Build the Wall" election rhetoric...woah. Ben Shapiro's take is not positive. Bah-leave me. Bah-leave me. Doesn't give one confidence regarding "lesser" campaign issues like CPZs.

Texas church shooting hero Stephen Willeford will be attending this year’s State of the Union address as a guest of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas).

Breitbart News reported that Willeford, who lives near First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, learned of the shooting as it was happening. He opened his safe, grabbed his AR-15 and a handful of bullets and ran toward the church to intervene. In the urgency of the moment he did not even stop to put on shoes.
Did you catch the D in that story?
Fireworks for Cuellar.
Popcorn ready type political theater moment to see if Trump points him out to the crowd, heaping scorn onto Cuellar from the national antis.

Does anyone think we're past Day One on CPZs at this point? What great bone will Trump throw to we pro-2A people that he will ignore for the rest of the year? Will the red meat be offset by bump stock regulation?

Currently Drudgereport.com has the headline that Trump is announcing his run for POTUS in 2020:
TUE FEB 27 2018 10:05 AM ET** Just one year into his presidency, Trump will stun the political world TODAY by announcing he is running for re-election in 2020. Digital guru Brad Parscale will be named campaign manager, DRUDGE REPORT has learned... MORE... The bold move comes 980 days before Election Day, a historical record. Obama announced 582 days out... MORE...
Is it Day One, yet?

Does it burn anyone's bacon that he's announcing for a new term, 2 weeks after Parkland which demonstrates the failure to remove Gun Free Zones?
