Not in the summer and this is a blow to avid canoeists from other states who are pro-gun. I've already had one bear incident in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness up there.

Maybe the next time our Governor swings thru that part of the country on a campaign trip he could touch base with Minnesota's Gov. and get this glitch fixed.

The problem is more with the attitude of the AG in Minnesota and the Minnesota legislature.

Wouldn't hurt none for them to talk about a solution to a mutual glitch.

Their liberal governor and Attorney General don't see it as a glitch, they see it as a win. MN has dropped something like 4 states this year and a similar number last year. This is *intentional*, and according to their website they have been in communication with the states affected. I'm guessing it was like what happened with VA - they saw a difference, and asked if it was the case, and when we agreed that it was, they dropped us.

From what I can tell, the difference is likely that we don't require training at each renewal like they do. They aren't likely to change their requirements, and neither are we, so there isn't anything for our respective governors to discuss.

I keep hoping their legislature will do what VA did and pass a law recognizing all licenses, but I doubt it will happen. They don't have a strong pro-firearms rights organization like VA does, nor do they have as strong of a republican majority.

Darn right it's intentional......they are doing it NOT because they have to, but because they can.

And in doing so, they are only making the case for a form of "national reciprocity", where the fed comes in and stomps on 'em and forces them to except all carriers

They are only hurting their anti-gun agenda in the long run.

Minnesota's Governor will not be running for a third term and their Attorney-General has an A+ rating from the NRA, so there's hope there that some "friendly" interchange between our Governors could swing the pro-gun pendulum our way.

Not until next year at least. My understanding of the Minnesota law is that the changes can only be done once annually.
