The US Senate continues to be the strongest front on which the Trump agenda (whatever it may be) can be opposed by the Dems. It bears watching...In 2010, I (and others) criticized the Democratic leadership (including then Majority Leader Harry Reid and many of the continuing Democratic senators) for their use of the “nuclear option” in curtailing the power of the filibuster.

In 2010, Reid and his colleagues were warned by many of us that the decision would quickly haunt their party if polls continued to slide toward the next election. Perhaps the most poignant warning came from Republican Alabama Senator Richard Shelby “Democrats won’t be in power in perpetuity. This is a mistake — a big one for the long run. Maybe not for the short run. Short-term gains, but I think it changes the Senate tremendously in a bad way.”

Whatever the merits or the outcome of this vote, Democratic senators served their constituents poorly in casually discarding this long-standing protection of minority rights.

There you go.As previewed earlier, in a vote that many had expected would end up deadlocked 50/50 in the Senate, moments ago the confirmation vote for Trump's Education Secretary candidate Besty DeVos was indeed tied in the Senate after two Republicans - Collins and Murkowski voted against - which then prompted Vice President Mike Pence to cast the first ever tie-breaking vote for a cabinet nominee in Senate history, in the process confirming DeVos as America's new Secretary of Education.
Collins is up in 2020 (though some say she'll run for Governor in 2018)
Murkowski is up in 2022
Throw these two together with McCain and Graham...and they could wield enormous power over the agenda.

Emphasis added.Mark Levin blasted Republicans in yet another Facebook note on Wednesday, saying they “lied their way into office” and perpetrated the “greatest hoax in modern politics.”
“Here comes rationing, long waiting periods, and massive red-tape,” said Mark Levin in all caps on. “The Republicans lied their way into office in what is the greatest hoax in modern politics.”
Say goodbye to the Trump agenda, while the Senate is configured this way.
