BATFE Activity
Have any of you noticed or heard about any BATFE operations against retail FFLs in your area?
Last week I found out that AT LEAST two gun stores here in the Akron area are in the process of being shut down if their appeals fail.
I know for a fact that one of these stores has never "lost" a firearm from inventory or ever, in over 20 years, had a gun used in a crime traced back to them. Their terrible sin has been to have some paper work errors like Xing out the unwanted answers instead of circling the wanted answers on 4473s.
People around here don't want to talk about what's going on, seemingly, for fear of antagonizing the BATFE. Should we really have to fear these people as much as the Gestapo and KGB were in their day?
Why can't we shine a light on what is going on?

Four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo - use in that order.
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

The NRA has been talking about this recently. It sounds like the dems are out with their jack boots and full Nazi regalia again!

Reminds me of the old saying, "It doesn't matter what your answers are so long as you keep them asking the wrong questions."
We can make all the 2A strides we want. Heck, repeal GCAs '68, '38, '34... But if all the dealers have been shut down...
On a similar note I notice another W-M district (the one here in NE FL) has thrown in the firearms towel - talked to one of the clerks the other night - said it was just too much hassle for too little profit.

Total repeal of ALL firearms/weapons laws at the local, state and federal levels. Period. Wipe the slate clean.

No surprise whatsoever. And ya' know what? They'll win. 'Cause they've got wa-a-a-ay deeper pockets (Oh, wait! That's my pocket...)Illuminaughty wrote:http://www.gunco.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28940
This is even more interesting in that it's occuring under a nominally pro- (well, at least not "anti-") gun President. Of course, the US AG - that he appointed - does not exactly share our views, and that's who F-Troop answers to...

This is a soar spot with a friend of mine who turned in his FFL because the cost kept going up to renew. He was small time sales. 1 maybe 2 guns sold a month. They don't have to use JACK BOOT THUG tactics to shut down retailers, they just like to.

The thing that burns me is they forced all the little guys that sold a few guns a year at gunshows to get rid of their licenses because it wasn't their main livelyhood, then they turn around and demonize the same people for being "unlicensed gun dealers" that don't do background checks! If they left them alone in the first place, there would be a lot more NICS checks at gun shows right now.

I think the thing that's silly is what the BATFE is writing these people up for. Could it be incorrect information - no, maybe a lack of a background check - no, perhaps it was incorrectly declaring the type of firearm - no... At the place I usually go, I was told they were written up by the BATFE 80-some times because people see a yes/no answer block, and people will naturally place in the blocks Y and N.
Well, I could understand this if there were common languages that had their version of "NO" start with a "Y", or "YES" start with a "N". In all my travels, I have yet to find one (most places in the world I've been, the first letter of the (insert language here) word for "no" is N. Yes can be a slightly different matter, but No always has started with an N.
I really believe these people are simply trying to find something out there to satisfy some weird urge. The last time I checked, those of us who fill out those forms, and pass the checks were supposed to be the good guys, and so were the FFL dealers... I guess I simply can't understand this Gestapo/guilty-first attitude...
