Why do Anti-gunners call 26 year olds children?

Post by Tither »

Ever wonder why anti-gunners want to use crime figures that call people 18 to 26 children? Why, because this is the age group that commit the bulk of the crime here in the U.S.. By using these figures, they can attribute just about every gun crime and every victim that happens in the U.S. to children

Figures from Link U.S. Department of Justice for 2003

These figures break down at age 24 but lets just look at these figures and see what we can see. Added together, the Arrest rates for people under 25 = 42,236.70 . Arrest rates for people over 25 = 3,885.3

Figures broken down by age groups
14 & under = 1,167.7
15-17 = 12,303.8
18-20 = 16,199.2
21-24 = 12,566.0

for a whopping 91.16% of all crime is committed by people under 25.

25 and over = 3,885.3 but within these figures, the greatest amount of arrest are in the age group of between 25 and 27.

For correlation, England has not exactly the same, but about the same crime breakdown by age group as we do in the U.S.. See this graph for reference. Link By age in England
