Re: Trump, Gun Free Zones and Day One

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he expected to support President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign in 2020 during a Tuesday interview with SiriusXM hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on Breitbart News Tonight.

Mansour asked Cruz, “Would you be supportive of President Trump if he ran for reelection in 2020?”

Cruz replied, “I certainly assume so. I was supportive of and campaigned for President Trump in 2016, and I am very encouraged with the substantive policy victories we are getting, whether it is an historic tax cut bill, whether it is regulatory reform that’s unleashing jobs, whether it is repealing the Obamacare individual mandate — which I led the fight to do in the United States Senate — whether it is nominating and confirming strong constitutionalists to the courts. On all of those fights I’ve been working to lead the battle. I’m content to continue working to lead that battle and defend our freedoms and defend the Constitution.”
Whew. What a relief!

President Donald Trump will address the National Rifle Association’s upcoming 147th Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas this week.

SNIP

As at last year’s forum, the U.S. Secret Service will have jurisdiction at the 7,400-seat Convention Center Arena and have banned all weapons as well as backpacks, drones, large bags and other items. The latter has stirred calls of hyprocrisy from some gun control advocates despite the fact that the practice is standard at most high-profile events where the President or presidential candidates are in attendance.
#Leadership

Flashback to Nov of 2016:
As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump vowed to make Americans safer from attacks like those that left scores dead in Paris, San Bernardino, and Orlando. Eliminating restrictions that bar people from carrying guns places where firearms are currently banned, he frequently declared, is key to that strategy.

SNIP

His promise resonated with his conservative base. The National Rifle Association has made doing away with gun-free zones a top priority, characterizing them as a “horror” that give criminal madmen and terrorists license to “destroy innocent lives unchallenged.” In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, 64 percent of Republicans said they supported allowing teachers to carry guns in schools.
Right after ERPOs, bump stock bans, Fix NICS...

My understanding was that POTUS was to speak an hour ago at the NRA convention...livestream is up, but nobody home...anybody know what's up?

GOA statement:
Executive Director of Gun Owners of America (GOA) Erich Pratt stated the following in anticipation of President Donald Trump’s speech at the National Rifle Association Annual Meeting:

“After his election, President Trump told gun owners that, ‘The eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end.’

“Gun owners breathed a sigh of relief when Hillary Clinton was defeated in the 2016 elections. Her stated support for confiscation of firearms would have been disastrous for our country.

“But even with her defeat, the assault against our gun rights has not ended. For example, the ATF’s proposed regulations banning bump stocks would make instant felons of law-abiding citizens who own one the day after the ban goes into effect. Not only that, these regulations are written so expansively that a future anti-gun administration could easily use them to justify a ban on AR-15’s and other semi-automatic rifles.

“President Trump also signed gun control into law as part of the Omnibus spending bill in March.

NRA members cheering ERPOs...a bit quiet about "mental health"...tepid response to "armed guards" in schools..."highly trained teachers"'

He had the stones to hit on Gun Free Zones..."we trust in everyday, talented, wonderful people", talking about trusting the people to be wise and responsible in RKBA. (Honestly, people simply have no memory, or they're so invested that he could, genuinely, shoot someone on the street without provocation and get away with it, as he has foretold. Perhaps he was speaking metaphorically about destroying the RKBA in plain sight.)

Back to the Texas crowd speech..."Come and Take It"...I guess that's the bump stock owner's new mantra?

I think the exit music was the Rolling Stones...."you don't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need..."

In Trumps broken English, with his multiple starts and stops (not that I'm defending the tweet, or POTUS on CPZs), he didn't say that in that way...he went on about the crazy people who want to do harm to kids and such...it just got left out, somehow...

Lucy's got some splainin to do...

Pence first, bland and delivered with zero energy.
Then Trump
(INTRO music at 39:37)

(Securing our Children 1:17:09, including ERPOs...but not by that name...takes credit for Omnibus security spending RE school safety...)

(1:20:51 - 1:23:20 is Gun Free Schools rant...)

(Exit Music 1:27:35)

Choir sings...
"I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was a footloose man
No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime
You'll find
You get what you need"
Because, he's not the man that we want, but the hero we need! Image

Was the wine drinking woman named "Stormy"?

In one tiny example, it's all the pro-RKBA American needs to know about where we stand with our "special interest groups" and our POTUS:

How are you going to have a pro-RKBA rally under these conditions?
This is the level of dedication, and we are surprised to be losing? How does one win arguments while displaying such hypocrisy? How does one make arguments and appeal to logic while acting against themselves?

Gimme a break! What is the alternative? Not allow the President to speak at the convention?

A) Have POTUS and VPOTUS appear via skype (or a pretaped appearance).
B) Change Secret Service protocols #2A Champion / Leadership (did you see where signs were banned?)
C) Certainly, don't invite the traveling Citizen Disarmament Zone to your party.
D) Offer pardons to all violators.
E) Stop thinking inside the disarmament box.
F) Respect the Rights of the People - comprehend Unalienable Rights

I could ask you the same, in a way: Is there ever a time where you've argued the argument, instead of finding fault with the person bringing it forth?

It is difficult to actually engage the argument, though, isn't it? So much easier to criticize the messenger.

To answer your question directly: I just picked up a few 92F mags that I really enjoy.
I never knew that I needed a place for the weak hand pinky finger to rest, but, wow, is it nice.
