That is a link to a Quora answer to the question:

Why are there still many people in the U.S. that don't want to reform the gun laws?

The answer is long, has many links to other sites to back up the author's statements regarding violent crime in the UK, and stats and graphs showing how more guns mean less crime in the US.

It's a great read, trust me.

Wonder how those stats would compare if the Police over there were properly recording all the crimes that were reported.

Rape and violence are among the thousands of crimes that are not recorded by the police, a watchdog warned.

Inspectors who are reviewing crime data for every police force in England found that at Thames Valley Police (TVP), one of the largest forces in the country, 35,200 crimes were not recorded per year.

The force has been graded “inadequate” at recording crime by a watchdog which found only about 80 percent of crimes that were reported were recorded.

Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) found that nearly one in five crimes reported to Lincolnshire police were undocumented, potentially leaving some victims shut out from support services.
The watchdog examined records from the period 1 June to 30 November 2017 and estimated that about 9,400 reported crimes were not recorded per year – more than 18% of the total reported to Lincolnshire police.

The report said a “large proportion of common assaults and malicious communication offences and a small number of more serious crimes, including sexual offences, grievous bodily harm and rape”, were not recorded.

Of particular concern was violent crime, where only 72.7% of reported incidents were recorded, with some crimes of grievous bodily harm and wounding where victims were badly injured not being properly documented.

The part about acid attacks is scary. And then I did a search on "acid attacks" and lots of articles about acid attacks in the UK popped up. No guns. No knives. So bad guys grab some Drano and start disfiguring people. Pictures are just awful. And this is the country the Left wants us to emulate??

Another link takes you to a story about Richard Osborn-Brooks. He is 78. Wife is 76. They are in the house when two bad guys break in and threaten the homeowners with a screwdriver. Osborn-Brooks is somehow able to get upper hand and stab one of the bad guys with the screwdriver. Bad guy dies. Osborn-Brooks is arrested for murder because UK allows you to use only "reasonable force" to protect yourself. On the plus side, charges are dropped. On the minus side, Osborn-Brooks never got to return home. Bad guy's family/buddies put up memorial across the street from Osborn-Brooks house and threatened Osborn-Brooks. Bad guy's family tried to have the funeral procession go right by Osborn-Brooks house but local residents blocked it. Osborn-Brooks is not allowed to own anything that he protect himself with so he and his wife ended up living in protective custody. Don't know where he is now since he needs to keep a low profile.
Richard - cleared by murder cops - and his dementia-sufferer wife Maureen, 76, were forced to flee into police protection fears of revenge attacks from Vincent's associates.

Three-and-a-half months on and the Osborn-Brooks are still in hiding.

Their family home has remained untouched since removal men visited and a security firm boarded it up and installed a CCTV camera.
