I found this amusing because I had a similar thing happen to be many years ago, in the middle of the night. The person probably wasn't a car thief though, because his footprints were in fresh snow and around the house. The prints leading away from the house were different than the ones leading up to it, suggesting the guy ran off when we investigated what was outside that the cat was bothered about. We knew it was something outside because she kept running back and forth to the back porch window after she woke us up. At first we just thought it was a dog, because in the daytime if she saw a dog in the yard she always wanted to go outside and attack it, but she'd never acted that way at night before.
