Gowdy: Life isn't all about winning at politics

Post by bignflnut »

Gowdy explains that the ends don't justify the means, might doesn't make right and that the way we play the game is more important than winning. A solid lesson for anyone in politics, on any level.

Can't blame him for wanting to escape the swamp. Ironically, It's people with his outlook that are desperately needed to drain the swamp. I have a feeling we'll be hearing from him in the future.

What he said should be applicable to law enforcement and prosecutions also. It perhaps is when he was a prosecutor, but it's not that way in general. It wasn't that long ago when I was basically told by someone who worked for the local county prosecutor that winning was everything. Throw out bad confessions or warrants? No way, let the courts do that IF the defense happens to bring it up. Decisions to prosecute were not made on guilt or innocence, but can we get some kind of charge to stick and sometimes how a particular case might look like at election time for the prosecutor.
