2002 BMW M3 - soon to be a semi dedicated track car. Not sure what I'm getting next but leaning toward a year or two old GTI 5 door.

A deer committed "suicide by Jetta" last night. Windshield is starred, side window is out. Mirror gone, and assorted bumps on the body.Mustang380gal wrote:For driving 4 children or less: older Jetta with 197K miles, rusted in exactly the same places every other VW rusts. At least it has a stick shift, and is nice to drive.
Not sure if we are car hunting for a cheap car now, or if we are going to fix it, cheap.
It's always something.

Hope everyone's OK, Mustang380gal! Sorry to hear that you'll be searching for a new vehicle, too.

Ted was driving on the way home from the fire station. He's fine. The deer hit head-first.curmudgeon3 wrote:Wow ! Were you injured ....... sounds like the deer collided in mid-leap.

Re: What do you drive?
I don't recall a vision test.IIRC, the details were something like this... Have to go across town to a place that's only open very limited hours to get my packet. Then sign up for a time slot to take the written test and another vision test (appears that having a valid driver's license isn't good enough, have to take the vision again).
Motorcycle safety class? I didn't take one of those.Go take the written test at that place. Bring my materials across town to the other place that's also not open for very many hours to get them processed to get my temps. Then, try and get a slot in the always full motorcycle safety class that only happens to offered on bad days at inconvenient locations.
Well, I could make a trip to Burger King sound complicated if I did it like that!Finish that, then go back to the first location to get my information processed... I can buy a lot of gas for my car with the time I would have wasted fighting the state to try and get my motorcycle endorsement.
BMV, take test, 10 minutes in and out. Temp permit on the spot. Practice basic skills, if you're so inclined. Schedule a time then hit the nearest testing place (a BMV also), take the test, go straight into the same building you arrived at for the test, get the endorsement, done, 1/2 hour out the door max (depending on the crowd density at the BMV, granted).
The actual driving test actually tests some road used skills (cones aka agility on the bike, and knowing how to turn in a tight spot, which is invaluable in my opinion). It's not hard or tricky and requires you to simply retain a bit of self control.
Your call of course. There's always reasons to find for not doing any ol' thing in the world. It's a matter of how much you want something, or don't.

For work I drive a 2009 F150.

We've also got a 2010 Mustang and a 2012 Yamaha FZ6R, but the wife keeps those for herself.

I will stick to my 94 Toyota 4Runner. I love it cause it does everything I ask and still grinds on. The body is in such good shape that I'd drop a new motor in if the current one ever took a poop.
