re:7 rd 45 acp Officer MATCH GRADE SS Magazine
Dear Sirs:
I shoot and carry a Kimber Pro-Carry. That's the job with the 4" slide and the aluminum alloy Officers Model frame. I recently purchased some brand new, factory fresh, Colt magazines for it -- they've got the Rampant Colt stamped right on the bottom.
When I took my gun out to try the new mags I had nothing but trouble. I had several failures to feed (usually on the last round). There were several times that the slide failed to lock back on an empty magazine. I regularly had difficulty pressing the mag release button -- all this in only 100 rounds! I could go own and own and own.
I immediately went out and bought three of your 7 rd 45 acp Officers MATCH GRADE Stainless Steel Magazines. I took my gun out today and ran another 100 rounds through it without a hitch -- not so much as a hiccup!
Thank you! Kimber makes a mighty fine pistol, but it won't shoot worth a damn without your fine Chip McCormick Power mags. My hat is off to you.
Very truly yours,
Tom ....

I rebuilt the ones that came with my Gold Match II and my Ultra Carry CDP II (both with internal extractors) with Wilson Combat Parts. Now they work perfect! Kimbers are sure sweet! I can carry the UC CDP II in a VersaMax all day, sometimes I forget I am CCW.

Kimber extractors
I know the most recent CDP Kimbers come with external extractors, but some prefer the internal extractor. Which is better and why?

Kimbers were first built with internal extractors, and sometime after entering the phase II series they began using the external extractor. There were several early variations of the external extractor that were proved to be insufficient or of poor design. It appears that Kimber has solved the external extractor problem. The latest built models appear ok and Kimber has been real good in making it right for those who had trouble. Now for the internal vs the external extractor, we could talk about that all week and never come to a conclusion. I have guns with both and have only replaced one external extractor and that was on my Ruger Mark II, as the metal was too soft and it rounded off real quick resulting in FTE. I have one gun built in 1942 with a variation of an external extractor and its the original.

Mags
Paras mags suck. I replaced the factory mags with Wilson Combat mags. It took me shooting my first Para LTC twice with FTEs and other problems before I got the Wilson's to replace them. When I got my second LTC in stainless, it never got the facory mags, new Wison's went in from the start.
