I read the other day that a 308 has more energy @ 400yds. than a .223 does at the muzzle.
The article then went on to recommend a .308 over the .223 for HD.
I think not, unless I live in a very remote location.

I know you're kidding, but some folks might not be aware that you can't carry dangerous ordnance in Ohio, licensed or not.AlanM wrote:IF you gotta go with a Glock, pay the $200 and carry a G18.
It's a darn shame...

Supposedly, that TAP stuff expands very quickly, thus limiting over-penetration. Still, probably not something to use in the apartment complex.sodbuster95 wrote:Continuing with Bob's Hornady reference:Jake wrote:FWIW...drifting away.....

308 Win 150 gr GMX - 2648 ft/lb (muzzle), 2243 ft/lb (100 yd), 1311 ft/lb (400 yd)
or -
.308 Win., 110 gr. TAP - 2446 ft/lb (muzzle), 1956 ft/lb (100 yd), 935 ft/lb (400 yd)
But I don't think I'll be using that for HD anytime soon.

Not to mention, no lowly civilian type is allowed to own a G18. That stupid 1986 rulejabeatty wrote:I know you're kidding, but some folks might not be aware that you can't carry dangerous ordnance in Ohio, licensed or not.AlanM wrote:IF you gotta go with a Glock, pay the $200 and carry a G18.

But dogs are just animals, making the kill quick is the humane thing to do, even if they're a one of those "assault" breeds.
Rapists or child molesters on the other hand, do deserve the other head-shot...
I know. I need sensitivity training...

What the heck is an assault breed?

As with those EBRs, it's any breed of dog that BIG media doesn't like or wishes to sensationalize (i.e. pitbulls). Seemed an apt joke for the thread, making fun of their absurdity with even more absurdity.jamie9mm wrote:What the heck is an assault breed?

LOL. We recently had a rabid raccoon at work (not on the payroll, and we were pretty sure that he wasn't from the safety office). We called the SO (after hours) and they dispatched a deputy - took 7 rounds of 45 to put down the raccoon.Jake wrote:Switch to .45 and stay alive!
