Public skeet/trap ranges.

Post by TJW815 »

We are trying to setup a team building exercise and the idea of skeet/trap shooting came up. Is there any courses open to the public in Southwest corner of the state? It would be a small group of four people.

Check with Fairfield Sportsmans Association. Been a while for me but traditionally they were open to the public during certain hours/days and didn't charge non-members that much more per round of skeet/trap.

Milford Gun Club out on Round Bottom Rd. a few miles from Newtown would be another club to check with. By the way I don't have any contact info for Milford GC, FSA is easy enough to find online.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Middletown Sportsmen Club has Skeet, Trap and Sporting Clays. All fields are open to public. For Sporting clays I would recommend calling ahead and reserving a time slot

I called and they said they don't do reservations.

I find most private sportsmens / conservation clubs are open to the public for Skeet, Trap, sporting clays, and 5 stand. at least the dozen or so clubs near me are, but I'm in the opposite corner of the state.

Funny you should mention skeet/trap shooting. I was just talkin Monday to a buddy of mine that went trap shooting a Wright Patt. Apparently they have a range that is open to the public and is fairly inexpensive too.

"Awesome" is code word for CC in my house. Cuts down on the kids asking, loudly, in public, if I am in possession of anything that goes bang.

I don't think it's public.

Per the review non members can shoot trap and skeet there, but it's a closed base and you must be sponsored or escorted onto the base.. Sounds like a non member can shoot if you know a member.

Don't have to be AF, but need some sort of relationship with the base:

All Wright-Patterson active duty/retired military members, current and retired base civilian employees, family members and contractor employees working on this base are eligible for membership.

Ok TJW, I talked again with my friend last night. According to him during the summer the trap/skeet range is open to the public on the weekends.

He said that you drive in on the same road for the golf course and instead of turning left for the golf course make a right, he also said there is limited signage.

I have never been there and I'm passing this on because you asked but he really talked it up and said you should check it out.
