We usually have 200 to 300 come to our house but we make them come up on the porch.
My old lady gets angry with the teeenagers who still go out but I figure if they aren't ashamed of themselves then why should I care.
Year before last we had an older guy come up on the porch and I asked how old he was, his reply "38 but my son died this year" !?! I gave him one sucker... a Dum Dum.
The ones that bug me are something relatively new, parents pushing kids in strollers or carrying them and they are clearly not even on solid food and the parents say "its for the baby".
I loved beggars night as a kid and as long as I'm able I'll give out candy.
You cheap butts who don't hand out candy should have your windows soaped! Oh wait, kids these days are too lazy for the trick part.

I live in a cluster home...little brats never come by....never.
our developement is large....police patrols and even a fire truck drive around....hard to find parking spaces in the street...they come from all over to TOT ...it gets out of hand because they park on both sides of the street...
Take my grandson around....sometimes...
I love Snickers Bars....

Re: did the rules for trick-or-treat change?
This just paints a picture of so much of what is going wrong in our country today...Tweed Ring wrote: It was close to a country song by David Allen Coe. The little kid was screaming; the parents were accusing, while pointing accusatory fingers; the other parents escorting kids were frantically dialing 911; and the deputy sheriff, who knew me, was trying very hard not to laugh. At the conclusion of this imbroglio, I took my bowl of candy, and myself, sans apology, inside and killed the porch light.
Kid claimed I had stolen a package of Reese Cups from him. The deputy eventually found the allegedly purloined treat at the very end of my drive, where the kid had carelessly dropped it. I wasn’t afraid of the dad, as I had a big Mag Light in my hand, but the mom’s incessant, and penetrating screaming, hurt my ears. She had quickly attained the volume of a Mitts Merrill Whisper Chipper. Perhaps alcohol, in some fashion, was involved...

I sit outside by the open garage, 20 foot driveway. I enjoy seeing all of the kids running around. Don't worry much if they from my area or not. If they live in such a bad part of town that they need get trucked over to my area for a Snickers bar, big deal. Same reason I make a donation to Toys for Tots, thankfully my kids have more then they will ever need.

That's kind of my point of view as well - though I do insist that you walk the 20' from the street up to my door. But after that I don't care a whit if I know you or not or if I see you pile out of a vehicle that just brought you over from a disadvantaged part of town. I have x amount of candy, I got it for that purpose and if it is all gone at the end of the night, well, my dentist and my waistline thank you.Whirlwind06 wrote:I enjoy seeing all of the kids running around. Oh, they have to come up on the porch at our house ....
... and a few refused to even cross the street.
