The most probable scenario: the LEO took the ammo home with him.

Something needs to he done here.
It'd be interesting if some of that ammunition was loaded with less than 100% attention to detail, like a double or triple charge of Bullseye in a .38 Special case.

If one of those rounds were to destroy a firearm and injure the cop, how would he explain how he got the information? "I stole it"?

Even more interesting, what would happen if he gave some to somebody else who got injured?

Theft is theft, no matter if you try to cloak it in giving somebody a "break" from a non-existent "crime".
Correction, "AMMUNITION", not "information".

Encouraging theft is a bigger loser.

What's he going to steal next time?

If you break the law rolling a stop sign and you got caught, you deserve the ticket. The theft of ammunition by a LEO is unacceptable. Period.
Good luck and stand fast, true Patriots.

File a theft report, and list the name of the LEO as a suspect.

Get a records request started for the officer's incident report and all electronic communication (such as emails or texts), radio and telephone traffic, and any dash cam or body cam footage associated with that report.

Don't plan on getting the ammo back, but don't let the cop off the hook. Get the evidence that he did take your ammo illegally and pursue it. Maybe ask some organization that is already suing Cleveland ( ) if they can help.
