Progressive supports the dark side, get thee away from them as soon as you can. Their founder, although no longer with the company, is a close friend of George Soros and made contributions to his causes. Of course, with a name like Progressive it has to, . . . Sorry, wrong slogan but you get the point.

I'm not sure how your DUI would have anything to do with your Homeowners policy. Auto, maybe....AaronInCincy wrote:[ I'm pretty stuck with Progressive for the next year at least due to a DUI 4 years ago. Progressive only goes back 3 years where everyone else seems to go back 5. I'll definitely be shopping around next year though.

Generally you save money when you have both together. If he can't switch the auto, then he'll pay more by not having a multiple plan discount.docachna wrote:I'm not sure how your DUI would have anything to do with your Homeowners policy. I didn't know the founder left the company, but I was told that in the last election, Progressive monies were given to numerous left-winged candidates (including Zero). There is a source to verify this, but I can't remember the link to it. I thought I had it in my favorites, but apparently not. I try to avoid companies that donate to left-wing candidates/causes whenever possible. This is not always practical, but I do so when it is. Change companies when you can and (obviously) keep your nose as clean as possible. I think insurance is an unavoidable rip-off in most cases. With many of them, you can drive without filing a claim for 30 years, but the first time you do, they either raise your rates substantially or drop you. I can't remember which company has the "accident forgiveness", but I've always been curious as to how that actually works out in real life.
And yeah, I've thought about the "progressive" name and believe it had a double-meaning for the founder. Flo, on the other hand, is a bit of a cougar, eh? Heard a talk radio personality (retired) say he found her quite attractive. Like the gecko, her face has been a tad over-exposed. I think if both those companies cut down about half on their advertising they could afford to drop their rates quite a bit.

Peter Lewis retired as CEO in 2000 but stayed as Chairman. He has since left the quick and joined the dead (ETA, he may be with Jerry Garcia but he is not with "The Dead").dcludwig wrote:I didn't know the founder left the company, but I was told that in the last election, Progressive monies were given to numerous left-winged candidates (including Zero).
