Just got a call back from the elder of the three instructors from our class and as soon as I asked the question about why having a CHL restricts my right to open carry, he knew immediately which class and which situation I was talking about. It was his son who said this in the class and it appears that the son was corrected outside the class.
I wasn't being obnoxious or antagonistic when I first pressed the issue so I don't feel I backed the son into a corner, but apparently the father felt the son needed to save face and so the error wasn't corrected in class.
First inform, non-event

Re: First inform, non-event
there are non-confrontational ways to correct a trainer's error in a class. my peers and i have done it many times with junior instructors. corrects the training error for both the junior instructor and the students.
