Good to hear. What proof did they require? In Florida all they require is a copy of your military ID or DD214...

Chief,

That's how I got mine also. A couple of weeks after returning from my deployment (April of this year), I made an appointment at Stark county. All they wanted from me was a copy of my DD214, the standard application form and the $45. No questions, no hesitations or additional explanations. I received my license in about 2 1/2 weeks.

Actually, I didn't expect much problem about military credentials. The Stark County Sheriff is a retired Army MSG, and I spoke to him before leaving for the deployment (so I had a fairly good idea what I was walking into before I went there).

Also, welcome back to Regulator2. I'm sure your enjoyed the return trip more than the heading out one (I know I did). I thought I knew most of the units out there, is the 518th a reserve unit?

Roger

all they needed was 214, even though I brough all all my 1059's from SAIROC weapons schools, sniper school, NRA Range instructor course, all that...

all they wanted was 214 and 45 bucks...although I thought it would be much more difficult

I actually deployed with a National Guard Trans unit, 88M being one of my MOS's, my platoon ran convoy escorts the entire time, for the 1st 6 months we escorted Civilian convoys, then started escorting Trans Companies intermixed with Civilian (TCN) drivers

then the Bttn decided they needed to form an Escort Company it was a Provisional Unit made up from volunteers, my crew and I joined up with them and spent the rest of the time there...they actually disbanded them in May a little more than a month after we came home
